Arkansas has the second lowest talent composite 24/7 SEC rankings on the schedule.
No one struggled yesterday beside Arkansas and Auburn. Baylor is a lot better than North Alabama.
Talent is still an issue on the hill.

You could have outgoing D-II talent and bring in a bunch of FCS guys and be ranked in the top 10 of that portal class because you had a net gain in talent composite, but you're still only FCS talent level.
That's basically what happened with us. We had a mass exodus of awful defensive players that were rated as low tier D-I players and brought in a bunch of mid-tier D-I rated players to replace them. Net gain on our composite, yes, but still significantly behind the talent level being acquired by everyone around us.

Arkansas fans in general have said 3 or 4 wins
If we play on offense like we did yesterday & don’t improve overall we won’t win another game, but odds are we’ll improve throughout the season. How we play against Utah & Tulsa will determine how many wins we get.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we beat Utah, but not expecting it since we have no point of reference to know how they’ll respond to Saturdays poor performance.

People reference those horrible losses to Western Kentucky, Toledo, etc., and they were awful for a program the caliber we should be, but even those teams would be double digit favorites over a program like UNA. The spread was over 40 for a reason. Playing a two possession game until a late field goal with them is a horrible, horrible sign. Yes we will get better, but so will everyone else.

I don't put much thought into these rankings.
I'm not seeing the upgrade in talent from last year. Replacing a bunch of mediocre FCS players with new mediocre FCS players isn't going to help Arkansas one bit.
Just the average Arkansas teams from the past before the portal and NIL had a significant talent advantage over the current team.
The portal and NIL era has not been kind to Arkansas.

The season opened with a 56-13 win over FCS Western Carolina.
So your theory of fcs games predicting a season need some modification unless your theory is that bad teams struggle to win games on the schedule in which case carry on.

That was a terrible year for the SEC and Arkansas just happened to take advantage of a weak schedule. Yet they still found a way to lose to a terrible SMU team. Got blown out by Tennessee at home, got blown out by Florida and lost to a mediocre North Carolina.

This gets said a lot but I’m not sure it’s actually true. He had more TDs and passing yards because we threw the ball more but nearly every other QB metric got worse from 2007.
It’s hard for me to fault Silverfield too much even as alarming as we looked on Saturday since he blew out North Alabama twice while at Memphis much worse than this. I don’t think he’s forgotten what to do since then with better talent (on paper) now. I’m willing to give the team time to gel and acclimate to the scheme but we better improve a whole lot throughout the season.

I’ve said before, we do not have the rabid benefactors for football. NWA has benefactors that are easily capable of filling this role, however, those benefactors don’t give a rip about Razorback sports (PLUS the University admin has thumbed its nose at this group, so they wouldn’t support it even if they cared about sports)
Our football program’s largest rabid benefactor would likely not even rank in the top 20 at LSU.
How does this problem get fixed? Can it?

Probably not without a major shakeup of the landscape of the sport.
We unfortunately entered dumpster fire mode right as college football was entering a new era. We are so far behind even mid-tier programs at this point. It's not hard to see us losing a power conference spot, if we see super conferences start to form and replace the NCAA

Fans seem confident that Arkansas wouldn't be left out of a super conference. I wouldn't be so absolute.
If Arkansas tried to join the SEC as bad as they are now in 92, I don't see them getting an invite.

Until we decide to pay an elite level QB nothing will improve.
KJ was missing guys running down the field wide open all game.
An Elite QB changes the dynamics of that game drastically and likely ends in a spread covering victory.
We can cry Oline but UNA was putting 6 in the box and daring us to throw all game and we couldn’t do it.
