The NIL wasn't as dire as Yurachek makes it out to be.
There issue was letting Pittman manage distribution, outside firms you pay off the top to bring it in, and spend 90% of the budget on offense.
There wasn't a big enough budget to build only in the portal, but other than laziness no one is out there roster building only in the portal.

First, I don’t think it’s just fine at all. I’m just not in freak out mode, yet. It wouldn’t take much to push me there but I’m gonna give the guy a chance to show me whether he can clean up what needs to be cleaned up. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very concerned. Just not ready to completely give up on the season. If they come out next week and still look bad with no improvement, I’ll be done with this experiment too until they prove me wrong. I’ve given every other coach, even very shortly for Chard, I’m gonna do the same for this guy.

Nutt, Bert, chaggie, and Pittman would all have been talking about a win being a win, braking off rust, tune up game, and other coach speak letting it be known they accept the win.
Silverfield was actually pissed after the game with the performance and calling guys out.
Does it matter? Who knows. They broke a 10 game losing streak so it's hard to pretend like they hit bottom with this performance, they were already there...

I'm talking about historically they have not been or shown proof that are a win at all costs program.
Yuracheck is more of a symptom but not the disease.
He is just being told by fans to fight against the evolution of the game.
"Oh Hunter, we are a program of integrity and we will not embrace this NIL nonsense."
"Hunter, Frank would be so proud of you, paying players is just not what we do here."
Arkansas is a terrible fit in the SEC.

This is more of a frank deal, Arkansas was the only player not to end up on probation in the 80s in the swc for paying players.
They were better at hiding it and only doing it when needed.
No one on the BOT cares about athletics and they've hired Long and Hunter as a result for reasons other than success on the field.
Silverfield has actually done something Pittman and Yurachek thought was below them, reach out directly to the people with money to raise funds for NIL. These people differ than around the rest of the sec in that you have to show you'll put the money to good use and not just piss it away and ask for more. It sets up the chicken/egg argument.

Basketball proves investment leads to success down the road. From the practice facility, to avoiding the up and comer, to NIL.
Baseball proves success doesn't increase with increased investment.
Football is the perfect example what not to do during the NIL era.
The truly Arkansas thing is an example of every scenario along the spectrum is present at one place.

Blowing out the fcs opponent didn't guarantee success.
The offense showed issues that can be corrected.
The defense showed things that haven't been seen in this decade.
Special teams showed you are allowed to return kicks.

Arkansas didn't have a choice but to remain clean in the 80s. Because every member of the SWC would have told on Arkansas if they did. They hated Arkansas because they were saints in comparison and would tell the NCAA who had teeth and enforced the rules.
If they did they would be another Oklahoma who had been cheating going back to the Bud Wilkerson years.
You can rid of Hunter but the people who still make the bad decisions remain.
Silverfield has said that he has spent 75 percent of his time fundraising. That is not good for a head coach spending his time doing a job that he shouldn't be doing.

This was against a bad FCS team.
When Arkansas blows these teams out, they have decent to good seasons.
When they struggle, they have bad years.
Arkansas is supposedly an SEC caliber team and with that logic, they shouldn't have a problem with this team.

The talent level is just so bad when you compare it to the teams before NIL and the portal.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I was and still firmly am, in the boat of keeping Bobby. But we didn’t, and now I’m giving Silverfield more than one game to prove himself. If he can’t prove himself to be the guy, no, he should not get years in today’s college football environment. The days of multi-year rebuilds is over as it stands right now.

The Petrino mess just muddies the waters. When in reality if he's not involved at all I still would have never liked the Silverfield hire.
The difference this year is that I had the same feeling about the Morris hire and talked myself into being a "give him time" guy. I'm not doing that this time around after what I saw today.
