Saban talked to Stallings before he took the Bama job. Also remember Coach Stallings on Finebaum when the Saban coaching search was underway refuting Bill Curry’s comments that Bama wasn’t a great place to coach and expectations were unreasonable.

If we want a Dabo type, we can hire Mario Cristobal: great recruiter, ceo type coach. Let's see how Dabo handles coaching turnover when it finally happens.

I doubt Dabo comes to Alabama. He'd have to upend his and his staff's entire lifestyle. They can take days off because they are so far ahead of everyone in the ACC. I doubt they could do that in the SEC and if they did as soon as he lost his first game he and his staff's workload would come into question.

Why did the Bear leave Texas A&M to come back to coach at Bama? Bama sucked when he got here. Dabo doesn’t strike me as the type who is very egotistical. He might want to come home. If I had to guess, I would say he wouldn’t. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. (I know that’s an Andrew Bone type response)

The longer he stays, the harder it will be for him to leave. He loves Bama and if we called him tomorrow, he would have a very hard decision to make. If it's 5 years from now like it appears it will be, I think he will say no.

He wouldn't. Some of us have been saying this for two years, but a lot of idiots keep acting like he's the next coach.

This was his sixteenth season at Clemson, dumbass. His kids don't even remember ever living anywhere else.

Why is everyone so interested in replacing a coach that has done more for this university than anyone since Bryant? These threads would be a lot more relevant when Saban retires.

It's all going to come down to timing. Further, I think Saban will try to pick his successor, and if he feels Dabo is the guy, Dabo would probably come.

He also suggested to LSU that they hire Houston Nutt to replace him when he left for Miami.

It has been mentioned here already, but I think the lure/draw for Dabo would be his love and passion for Bama. Look at how fans are as opposed to players when it comes to craziness and fandom. Dabo grew up with that same passion as a fan for Alabama. So much so, he walked on and literally gave everything (paid tuition on a credit card) he had to stay there and play. I think that is our only hope of him coming back when Saban retires. I do wonder if it is enough. He has been at Clemson so long and that is all his kids have ever known.

Curious as to how Stallings could influence Dabo, though.

I think Dabo as of right now would come and I think in his heart he probably always thought he would but again if the ACC keeps stinking and he gets a free pass to playoffs and starts building a true powerhouse even better than now he starts to not lean to never going. Don’t forget his best friends all went to bama and are on his staff as well, I think if I’m Saban and I get one more, the day Trevor Lawrence declares for the draft I’m calling Dabo and saying it’s his right now.

Dabo would listen if Bama came calling...doesn't mean he'd take it. He'll be a legend at Clemson for life now regardless...Danny Ford and the '81 team are still revered. I think it'd be 60-40 in favor of him staying at Clemson...but since he's an alum and he might want a shot at winning national championships at two different schools, think we'd have a shot...and I'd be surprised if he isn't the first guy Bama goes after when Saban retires/moves on...

He is guaranteed to be the first person we call when CNS hangs it up. But I think our window has passed.

Had he just won one title with DeShaun Watson, I think he would have come home. Bama is his dream job.

But now that he has won a second and has Trevor Lawrence for 2 more years, I don't think there is any way he is leaving Clemson. He has no reason to follow Bear Bryant and Nick Saban when he IS Clemson's Bear Bryant/Nick Saban now.

Let’s not get carried away...he has a long way to even compete with Saban let alone Meyer IMO. People always think if you have a superstar that it’s an automatic 2 more rings. I really think we’re going to be really good next year, if our D stays healthy ?? UGA is going to be really good next year and maybe 2 if Fromm stays. Ohio State with Justin Fields would be a powerhouse because their so young and talented on D. You throw Florida and maybe a Texas if they can be consistent. Don’t just start giving Dabo two more rings guys.
