re: Why was Jacobs not used more by Alabama? - OldPete
Yeah, read recently where Saban was talkin' 'bout Henry...said the plan was not to use him as much as they did but, when Kenyan Drake went down, they had to alter that plan. Once Henry got more carries, Saban noted that he was unique in that he got stronger the more carries he got so they ran with ...
Is that when you declare 5 or 6 one-loss seasons as national championships so you, at the time, can surpass Notre Dame(and be relevant in the minds of the northeast media)?
Alabama surpassed Notre Dame in total AP poll championships a few years back and leads them now 11 to 8 (all s...
Every year Alabama is at the bottom of these lists. Every year they say it’ll even out over time.
BS. This coming season and last, I'll agree with you as openers with Louisville and Duke suck, but it's not even close to being like that every year... In '17, we scheduled FSU who w...
The list has some major holes. Frazier at QB
There's more to playing QB than just throwing the ball; Frazier was a master of Nebraska's option offense as well as a great leader. The dude was a missed FG away in the '93 championship game from leading Nebraska to three straight nation...

re: Why we love college football/ Share your first great CFB experience - OldPete
Started in 1969 for me; I was 7 years old and playing my first year of organized football. My Dad and I watched the primetime Alabama-Ole Miss game on ABC. I remember watching Archie Manning passing and running all over the field that game; it was a back and forth game with Bama coming back and win...

re: Why is Alabama vs. Clemson 2015 thrown under the rug so much? - OldPete
The fact Clemson beating Alabama 35-31 is ranked ahead of Alabama beating Georgia 26-23 in OT just shows the dislike for Bama. No way in hell that should be ahead of a game like the 2017 title game.
That was only in Low's ranking...I think Maisel had the 2017 title game as #2, only b...

Two of the lists I've seen has that game pretty high on their best national championship game lists. Ivan Maisel has it at #4 and Chris Low has it at #6... [link=(https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Alabama-Clemson-Texas-USC-national-championship-game-ESPN-all-time-127307695/#127307695_1)]Ivan...

re: What is Bama’s QB route for 2020? - OldPete
I think it'll be Mac but it'll depend on how he does this year... For UGA, I think Fromm could return next year...not that he won't have the chance to turn pro, but something about him makes me think he could very well pull a Peyton Manning and return for his senior year......
I laughed....
Laugh all you want...but Mississippi State had just as many first round draft picks on their defense this past season as Clemson did. Auburn's DL was a top unit last season and LSU always has a strong D. All of these defenses played physical games against us; it's not...
Alabama’s first half of the season is basically preseason
Maybe so, but it's not the first half of the season that's the problem (compare our last 7 games of this season to yours; then assume we both play for conference championships and compare our likely opponents). November is a ...

re: Dabo=ACC=Duke just needs to shut - OldPete
Clemson kicked our arse last season; while I don't think it was quite as bad as the score indicated, we still have to live with that score. They've beaten us twice in the last 3 seasons, so they can talk trash... I wouldn't be so quick to root against Clemson this season. While it wouldn't bothe...

I think Locksley did well but I think Tosh was out of his depth. I think one of the reasons Tosh might've been promoted was to keep him from being poached by other schools...but I think Locksley was chosen more for continuity and he'd had prior experience as an OC......

re: Ranking your school's national title teams - OldPete
2015 was probably the best Bama team I saw even though they lost a game. They played the toughest schedule in the nation that year (9 teams were ranked when played, 8 teams finished ranked, 13 made bowls/had winning records). They were very balanced on offense: 3,000+ yard passer, 2,000+ yard rush...
I'll be 100% honest here - my biggest concern for 2019 is Pete Golding
I could be wrong, but I'm not worried about Golding; I was hoping when they hired him that he'd either be named DC from the get-go or assigned to the secondary. Not sure exactly when he took over play-calling dut...
