re: Rick Neuheisel claims LSU has offered Saban $100M over 4 years to be their head coach
Posted by Bolivar Shagnasty on 11/3/25 at 10:14 am to TideSaint
I just don't think Saban will do it. He just turned 74 last Friday.
He so much admitted during his later years that he had softened as opposed to when he was first at Bama. ( it showed badly in the penalty dept)
The things that made him successful, recruiting and discipline are harder to do now more than ever. Sure he can get a starting 22 with endless NIL money, but what happens when 2 or 3 starters get hurt and the fall off from first to second string is huge? Everybody wants playing time and to be the starter. Remember his statement when he retired? Only thing recruits want to know is how much will I play and how much are you paying me?
Because of his age it was getting harder and harder for him to find really good assistants to plug and play.
Finally, what would it say about his legacy. He earned the title of GOAT and lived up to it. With so many things that affect your style and ability to mandate excellence and bring about championships. Never mind the kids that won't stick around through adversity to become better. What about the studs you do have on the team that you have to re-recruit or negotiate to stay on the team. It still chaps my arse to this day to see Caleb Downs playing in a Luck Eye uniform.
Saban knows all of this in intricate detail waaaaaayyyy better than anyone else on planet earth. I just don't see him doing anything other than golfing like crazy and doing his ESPN gig.

re: Question for the Board: Does LSU and Auburn losing their coaches before
Posted by Bolivar Shagnasty on 11/2/25 at 8:29 pm to Kcstills17
The boogs are definitely playing with house money. Nothing to lose and can throw the kitchen sink at us. I too hope that they lose to Vandy and that Mercer plays them like 2011 Georgia Southern running the triple option. Any thing to have them down and ready to mail it in. I hate how good Auburn plays us at home. I would love for them to check out about half time and allow us to play the back ups.
As far as LSU.....I wish we were playing OU this week and LSU the next. A lot of unknowns as to what we might see. I know a leopard can't change it's spots, but they can damn sure try to camouflage.

This World Series was like watching Auburn and Tennessee play one another. Which team do i hate worse?
Syphilis or Gonorrhea. You can't win for losing.

We wash with soap and water and spray down with Hydraulic fluid. I think so long as you lube it up good after use with some type of anticorrosion solvent, you'll be good.
I like king kutter products, but I would highly recommend a poly hopper. Then you only have to worry about spin plate and veins......that are stainless.

I remember reading an article after Mullen's firing and that place was super dysfunctional near the end of his tenure at UF. Coaches fighting and bickering (according to the article) and was much like the inmates running the asylum. From what I can remember Grantham (DC) was the biggest issue from that era.

Anywhere in the first round. That was what Saban always told guys that wondered on whether or not to go. Come back, increase your value with your play on the field. Go make your millions.

I think this is HUGE.
Williams-Brice can be a bit raucous and a night game against a top 5 opponent would/could be tough to deal with. I think playing the game earlier is better for us. I really wish it was the 12 pm ET time slot.

He finished it off nicely. Really glad to see him rise up and get some tough yards. He has looked like our RB2 the last couple weeks.
Agreed!! Last night I felt as though Hill should have been number one. I'm not so sure that Jam was 100%. I'm glad he was in and able to contribute, but I bet Hill beating on the defense and allowing Jam to relieve Hill would have probably helped our rushing a little better. I think the other 2 will be a nice change of pace after a 1-2 punch of Miller and Hill for 3 quarters.
***I'm not saying Hill to be #1 RB all the time......just after Miller had his bell rung against Mizzou, I thought Hill was a little better and at 100% where Jam didn't appear to be.

I think the game in its current form has passed him by.
I find this statement interesting. We hear it all the time and I do not discount the validity of this.
Something I have found interesting. Coaching in general seems to go in cycles. Somewhere around the 15-17 year mark coaches run into this issue. Gundy is only 58, but was HC at Okie St for 20 years. Dabo is in year 17 and we know how that is going. Look in the past at Phat Phil at UT (16), Mack Brown at UTx (15). Spurrier to a degree was at year 13 between Duke and UF before he took his NFL sabbatical.
I think these guys get into a situation of trying to do the same thing over and over that got them there. I'm not sure why that wall hits like it does, but most coaches hit it. Saban's last 3 years (15-17) we saw a fall off in discipline and other issues with the team. Penalites were ridiculous. He faced issues. Maybe not as glaring as others, but he was dealing with it too.
I'm really interested to see of this window shifts with NIL. If guys burn out or run into issues sooner with the new format we have in place.

And the useless Bottom Line. Just an inferior broadcast to CBS and NBC
I think they are spread too thin. Between ABC/ESPN, SEC/ACC networks along with the ESPN+ BS. Too many irons in the fire to be able to do like CBS and blow their wad each week on the marquee match up.
re: 2012 Tundra 5.7 V8 engine? whats the word
Posted by Bolivar Shagnasty on 10/11/25 at 8:40 am to TaderSalad
I had a 2016 that I sold to my son. I know I taught him and hammered maintenance, and I have no idea if he did it as religiously as I preached. This past year his 5.7 shite the bed. IDK what happened, but it is the only one I ever heard of having a catastrophic issue. When he started shopping around, It was very hard to find engines, just because they are so bullet proof. Ended up 10k for a replacement, but he figured he could pay to have a newer engine (65K miles) put in the truck and drive the wheels off of it.
As far as what makes the 5.7 so good? I heard when Toyota went to the larger 5.7 over their smaller V8......they paid Chevy for information on their old 350 CUI (5.7) and used that as a template for what they were building. Makes sense. Old Chevy 350 has been around for decades and such a good motor. I'll never understand why they went to that oil burning pos of a 5.3 liter.

I agree it was probably the loudest game at BDS. I think the loudest moment was Mt Cody block of the UT field goal.
If memory serves me correct Tebow was at that game as a Bama recruit. I remember seeing a bunch of signs for him in the student section that day.

re: Tractor size recommendation. UPDATE
Posted by Bolivar Shagnasty on 9/9/25 at 4:29 am to LSUDad
Tractors are a lot like your pecker. You will always want one bigger than what you got. For that size property I would go no less than 45-50 horse and six foot implements. I would cheat more towards a 50 horse and with all the grass cutting your talking about, go with a 7 foot bush hog.
I live on 23 acres and my L series 32 horse Kubota does fine.
I would make sure whatever you get has a FEL with quick attach. Changing out the bucket with a set of pallet forks is super nice. You can also make you a basket attachment for those forks and ride in it to clear roads with a chain saw.

re: Tips for fishing the Cahaba River in Alabama - UPDATE IN OP
Posted by Bolivar Shagnasty on 7/9/25 at 8:44 pm to awestruck
I live just south of Centreville. I don't do a lot of fishing, but it has rained like a mother fudda around here. You won't have to worry about the water being low. Muddy is your issue. I have creek that borders my property that feeds the Cahaba. It is up and down with all this rain. It manages to clear up quickly, but when I crossed the river today it was a bit muddy.

I remember Rammer Jammer being banned around that time as well. I remember they used to sing it before the game started and the phrase was:
"we're gonna beat the hell out of you".
When it came back it was only after victories and the obvious, "we just beat the hell out of you".

Ironic because a French company Luxottica owns both of them to include Ray Ban. When they bought Costa several years back, that was when their bullet proof warranty got holes in it.
