Agreed. He's a role player. A very good one, but a role player. His ceiling is Robin to a good team's Batman, which I think he probably will be by his senior year, but for now he's like the 3rd or 4th option for a good program. His handle just isn't good enough for him to create for himself on a regular basis, so he has to be paired with guys who can feed him the ball.

reminds me of when the mavs gave harrison barnes a 100 mil back in the day. i could see him doing well since hell probably be their best shooter as opposed to here where he was like 5th but thats assuming he even gets to start, which with their roster is possible he doesnt and with the way kansas plays i could also see him simply just end up dreaming of the good ole days at bama where he was actually free.....as a bird....

I frequent other boards (miami, cbb reddit) and nobody understands his transfer.

Lol I don't like that Rylan transferred but now he was our 5th best shooter if he got to start?

He was our 3rd best shooter and our 3rd go to option who we expected to continue to grow. It's a loss but trying to make a guy we relied upon for a final four run to be a bum makes you seem like bitter and scorned ex.

I feel the same. He had a good tournament and that seems to have gotten Kansas' interest. I think we upgraded at 2-guard despite the loss. Thanks to Rylan for the two seasons and his contributions to our first Final Four but I'm not going to cry about it.

It’s a good problem to have when we have a roster as deep as we are expecting next year. I want Philon to commit to us because he gives us that slasher we need to break the defense down off dribble. Sears did a great job at it last year but he’s more suited as a spot up shooter at the two. If our backcourt rotation is Sears, Holloway and Philon we on paper would have the best three point shooters in the SEC. Let’s hope this guy commits to the good guys.

Trilly predicted that we get Philon. At this point we gotta go into “win now” mode like pro teams do. Get the money for Sears, Nelson, and Cliff because that is a genuine title contender

He was 99% percentile as the PnR ball-handler. As far as college point guards go he’s elite in every facet offensively, you shouldn’t be pigeonholing him into any specific role.

aw man thought i made it pretty clear but sure, the implication of that particular part of the point was in regard to how stacked we were on shooters compared to how kansas looks to currently be on paper, meaning they could and analytically should utilize his shooting more (whether they do or not is another story), not that he couldnt shoot.....and if you think comparing him to a guy like harrison barnes constitutes as being a ''bum'' then you sir just thank your lucky stars i didnt call him dion waiters instead.
since i actually looked it up now sure, you could argue he was our third best shooter or whatever though technically sam did edge him out as well, not that it matters.
for what its worth i like many others also dont care at all that rylan left. if this were a few years ago then sure i would, but id say oats has earned that kind of trust at this point. hope this cleared up some of your confusion and it would be appreciated if next time you dont put words in my mouth, thanks

Preston Murphy basically confirmed that Philon is in the bag and Adam Bauman seems to be insinuating that Nelson is back unless i'm misreading their tweets.

That’s the only way I think they can be interpreted

I'll be going full Gump if we get a legit rim protector, even if Sears doesn't return.

Likewise. I will be in the minority here, but I would like a rim protector and I will admit I think we desperately need to hold on to Nelson. In games where Nelson put it all together he was the most dynamic player on the court for either side. It only happened 4 or 5 times this year, but when he played at a high level we were more than just a fast paced finesse team, we had a bully who did a lot of dirty work too. I think we are going to need that with a huge youth movement coming in.

I agree. We need Nelson strictly at the 4. Playing the 5 limits him because it gets him in foul trouble.

Baye Fall to K State. Think that was one of the other schools Cliff was considering. Could be a good sign on where he stands.
