It always does after a loss.

Imagine a season long thread for a major League baseball team.
Even the all time best teams will still lose 60 games a year. Sixty. Alabama basketball has only lost 4 times this season

Where SEC teams stand in Joe Lunardi's newest bracketology:

No. 1 - Alabama (Top Seed)
No. 3 - Tennessee
No. 8 - Auburn
No. 8 - Missouri
No. 9 - Texas A&M
No. 10 - Arkansas
No. 11 - Kentucky (Last Four In)

Mississippi State is the first team out.

Everyone of us would've taken a split between @Aub and @Tenn.

We got that.

Moving on.....

Hell yeah. And the schedule ends a little easier with us getting most of the tougher games at home. I'm hoping A&M drops a couple before we go to their place. I don't want them to be playing that game to win the SEC.

Yep, I said that immediately after the game. Refs allowed both teams to be extremely physical in both the Auburn and Tennessee game and we were a few missed shots from winning both on the road. The past week should, if anything, give us more optimism heading into late February and March. Thus far the only ways we've been beaten are:

- Forcing us to turn the ball over around 20 times (UConn, Tennessee). We've made huge improvements here throughout the season, only taking a step back against the #1 defense in the country being allowed to play rugby on their home court.

- Running a pick-and-roll heavy offense with emphasis on getting the ball to the lane and hitting largely contested shots at a 60% clip (Gonzaga, Oklahoma). These two games exposed some weaknesses on defense, but aren't easily replicable by any single team.

KenPom projected win percentage for next 4 games

Bama

Georgia-96%
@South Carolina-96%
Arkansas-81%
Auburn-80%

Texas A&M

@Missouri-48%
Tennessee-39%
@Mississippi State-42%
@Ole Miss-67%

The Magic Number is 5. I think there is a very strong chance we enter the Auburn game with a chance to outright clinch

Did anyone else notice the Aub/Miz attendance a few nights back? Place was maybe 60% full outside the student section.

SOLD OUT!

Seems like the SEC would want the programs counting attendance the same way.

Yeah, it’s usually best to just avoid this place after a loss because it seems the negative trolls and the basketball illiterates get in a contest for dumbest take.

Anyway, looks like we lost at the perfect time to not really move much in the overall seed contest. I think Houston might be the biggest threat now.

You are usually reasonable if a bit harsh. But come on man, you respond to others' criticism - of your criticism of a player who has paid a price to play - with a self-righteous screed, accusing your critics of not caring about a kid they are defending? Arrogance and presumption are unattractive, a losing approach and always inappropriate. You don't know what any specific poster's motive is just as they don't know yours.

This is fair.

However, I took that turn because people created a strawman saying I was bashing the player's abilities, then one went as far as saying I never post here and don't actually support only come here after losses. Yet I don't see any condemnation for their incorrect statements.

Go to my first comment about this. It has never been about JQ's ability. Even that other guy came and posted my previous posts which I clearly have been consistent in saying we need JQ to step up and how Bradley had been poor after starting so well.

When they take such a defensive tone toward me, is it so crazy I would respond in kind? Especially when my entire point was about how he handles adversarial situarions and how he needs to mature so it doesn't hurt him later in life.

What is wrong with pointing that out? Why wouldn't JQ learning to control his emotions and not let people get him out of his game or to reach poorly be a bad thing?

This loss doesn't really matter. Especially the context that they were playing at home with all the calls and Bediako wasn't a full speed.

They did jump the gun and didn’t check your post history at first. However, most of your post history comes off pretty cynical and seems to have a negative slant. That tends to show an imbalance that even when individual things that are said are true, paints an overall picture that can distort the “bigger truth.” That can give off a perception that you have an agenda in your posts, or just struggle to be a supportive person/fan in general.

The way you know you’re a pessimist in life is if you respond to people who call you a pessimist with “no, I’m a realist.” I should know, I’ve said it far too many times in my life. Lol

Absolutely true! We were number #1 Wednesday. Lost, so #2 Thursday. Purdue lost Thursday, so we are #1 Friday. We need to win our remaining 3 home games and at least one on the road, and we should be set with a #1 seed. SEC tourney will not make much difference. It never does in NCAA tourney seeding, though it would be great to win both SEC regular season and tournament games. We do need somebody to beat A&M.

90% of it is people who simply don't keep up with college basketball unless Alabama is good and then apply football logic to the sport. One loss = major impact on your championship hopes in football. One loss in basketball here and there is totally irrelevant.

To go beyond that, I know that no team has went undefeated and won a championship since the '70s. But I'm curious how many teams went undefeated going into the tournament, just to end up getting upset. Probably a lot.

Just reading the last page, I'm glad I've been busy with Mardi Gras shite. Because, lol, this thread has gotten a little rough. Just imagine if we lost a game we were actually favored to win instead of predicted to lose.
