Those crappy fans he references - were from twitter, I think. Twitter is a cesspool of toxicity

I don't like that at all. I wouldn't say that about an equipment manager, much less the GOAT coach.

It was used as endearment. They obviously have a close relationship. Y'all looking way too deep into all of this.

The dude felt like he didn't fit in. No big deal. Not everyone is going to. The state isn't for everyone. That's okay. No place is for everyone.

Nah. I got my vaxxes. Just a reasonable person who can see two sides of a coin.

Some of the comments in this thread just reaffirm everything I said previously.

First, I don’t believe there is a “his truth” or “ her truth”. I believe there is the truth and there is fabrication.

I have no hard feelings at all for Najee not feeling right in Alabama. It isn’t for everyone. I’m thankful that he chose Alabama and that he stayed all 4 years, even though he felt that he didn’t fit in. I wouldn’t fit in on the West coast, and I don’t know if I would would have had the mentality to stay, after I had such a “insignificant “ first season. I thank Najee for being a great representative of UA while he was here, and I hope that he continues to do the same

Not only that, he's not only one on the team who feel the same way.

If you take away his athletic ability and name recognition, are you left with a kid you would want to hire for an entry level job at a bank or something?

Coaches at the big-time college and NFL levels tolerate more shite than they would like (and will admit) because millions are on the line and so few people have the genetics to succeed at that level. It also looks bad for recruiting if a coach has a publicized falling out with a player.

I doubt Saban cared too much for a lot of Najee’s antics and actions, and I think his attitude was tolerated way more than celebrated.

I have been all over the country and Tuscaloosa is a very normal American city with no real extremes and shouldn't be a culture shock to anyone from anywhere. We're not talking about a kid from the sticks figuring out the New York City Subway, or a kid from the big city with nothing to do but hunt and fish.

He spent 90% of his time in a controlled, very supportive environment around like-minded football players and coaches that hail from many different states with many different backgrounds. How can you not fit in? He wasn't out setting trotlines or plowing fields.

Other than the grind of being a college football player in general, I'm not seeing the difficulty.

Also, when he talked about being unfamiliar with the phrase "Roll Tide" and Bear Bryant, that's not culture shock. That's just frickin' stupidity - or perhaps a lie used to make fun of Alabama fans. It would be like a computer kid from Alabama wanting to fly out to school in Silicon Valley and eventually work for Apple being unfamiliar with Steve Jobs.

I mean, come on. Trying to weave through California traffic when you've lived in Linden, Alabama, all your life is a culture shock. Having never heard of the Golden Gate Bridge is just being a dumbass.

Great football player, not a great representative.

Sure, why not?

What "falling out" are you referring to?

This is based on literally nothing.

We're beating a dead horse, but I believe the kid acts like a turd and has issues when things don't go his way whether it's playing time, criticism, or someone says "Roll Tide" when he's buying a cheeseburger.
