I remember some of the criticism. Too slow, afraid of contact, bad attitude, over rated out of high school, etc. You'll get that from any fan base but I can understand why they don't like it. I wouldn't like it either, and wouldn't even if it were my kid. God forbid they check out the game threads.

Fair enough. Even guys like Julio got criticism for dropping catches (even when he was playing with a broken hand).

Some guys can come in from "the outside" and go "all in" with Bama. I think Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry are like that.

Najee certainly did Alabama proud the past couple of years. I hope he appreciates his time here.

I know there are a ton of great players still come from California, but I kind of doubt college football is as huge a deal there as it is deep south. I guess it would be a surprise to some young guys.

He's also from Northern California, not Southern California, with a long stop in Seattle.

The guy never complained out loud, just worked hard, figured it out, and became a great player and leader.

Twitter and message boards are not real life. I like Najee Harris and have defended him even when guys on this board thought Brian Robinson was a better player. But that take on Alabama fans is really bad. Guarantee he was treated like a God damn king on campus and never had to buy a beer at a bar. He will be ok. He's gonna be a millionaire in a few weeks.

And he never complained about it as far as I remember during his time here - he did an interview and just spoke honestly about his feelings over his 4 years.

How would coach react if he did? Hey Najee is an all timer for me. Absolute stud. I'm just a stoned old man typing on a forum. All I'm saying is he shouldn't give a shite what some pipsqueaks on twitter say and act as if it is the word of God.

I'd be willing to bet that even though he says it didn't bother him, he used every bit of it as a chip on his shoulder to silence his critics.

Umm plenty of people on this board basically up until midway through the 2019 season, despite the fact that he didn't anything but perform at a high level the moment he stepped foot on the field in 2017. That's a fact. I can link you plenty of posts on here.

This is true in the literal sense, but I promise you that it's "real life" for Najee's generation.

The truth hurts. I wouldn't take it personal, it's not just Bama's fanbase. Every fanbase of a competitive cfb program is like that. That doesn't make it less true.

I don't think he's trying to garner sympathy, he was just opening up to how he felt. And those feelings are valid. The game threads on this board are downright pathetic sometimes. Grown arse men melting the frick down over a missed tackle, or a blown assignment in the first quarter of a game.

Wouldn't know bud. I'm enjoying the games with my family and friends.

Remind me: who was criticizing Najee? He was a star from the jump, all the way back to the 2017 title game. Or is he upset of some criticism of other players? Got news for you my dude--that's not unique to Alabama.

I think Harris would be well served keeping his thoughts to himself as he moves into the NFL. It's not the place to display tender feelings. He will be dealing with full grown alpha males and a major media market that's a lot more vicious toward millionaire pros than college kids.

It's going to be a helluva lot tougher than Alabama.

He said those things in retrospect, and his lasting sentiment is that he is grateful and appreciate of his time at Bama, and that he ultimately made a great decision for himself. Him and Saban have a special relationship.

To act like he overstepped his boundaries by opening up on how he felt when he was a freshman coming from northern California to Alabama is asinine. His feelings are totally reasonable and I think that it's commendable for him to be so candid.

We are talking about immature adults here that don't have everything figured out for themselves mentally, and many of them who come from the west coast or other distant places from Tuscaloosa are fish out of water. They aren't robots.

Off topic a little, but if my kid played high level sports there is no way I’d have a Twitter or check message boards

Well, it's time to grow up. California to Alabama with all the resources in the world to help you succeed and millions of dollars right around the corner is not that damn difficult.

I like Najee and he became a total beast at RB. That said, as someone who has moved all over the world multiple times, I know what culture shock is like. It’s real. And while moving from Cali to Bama is a change, the way he frames it like is was sooooo hard for 4 years is pretty laughable. He was living and training in a multi-million dollar facility that’s nicer than NFL pads with the best trainers, coaches, nutritionists, and treated basically like a god on campus. Tough lot there, Najee...we really feel for ya bud! Glad you were able to pull through and survive!

Judging by the article, he has. What makes you think that he hasn't?

And he did succeed at Alabama. He was one of the most successful players to ever at Alabama. And he will succeed in the NFL.
