Is it time to admit Nate Oates isn’t a good coach?

Case of great recruiter but bad coach? Don’t get me wrong, he has put excitement back into the program, but how much rope will he be given based on the poor performance so far this year?

I have a lot of questions for some of the losses this year.

Hit submit too soon. Oats still has time to prove himself. I think he is a great coach and needs some time to grow at Alabama.

I think it’s fair to call him out on not having any answers.

“We have to figure out how to play harder.”

“Maybe they’ll figure it out.”

Either this team is 100% uncoachable, or he doesn’t know how to coach them.

They are about to lose to one of the worst teams in the country so there's that.

At least he isn't a partisan hack.

I think “great coach” is a big stretch. Team over performed last year and lost to UCLA largely because of coaching.

This year started great, but the last 3 weeks may be very telling on the sustainability of his style.

Oates is still learning, as is our young team. He has to reestablish the heart and passion last year's team had. Not any easy job.

Why is it a ridiculous post? If you know basketball and watch real good coaches, it’s pretty easy to tell that Oates isn’t one of them.

I believe in Oats but I’ve started to lose some faith with these bad losses. His obsession with James Rojas shows some serious lack of good judgment.

I remember when people were scared he'd leave unless a new hundred million dollar arena was built by spring.

This is just flat out embarrassing. Might want to close your eyes over the next 3 games now.

A coach that "isn't good" gets murdered with this schedule.

Shall I name the big wins? Or are you unable to look at the schedule?

No need in pointing out last years success either I assume?

I’m not sure we didn’t have a player actively throw the game tonight.

If you have the stomach rewatch the 2nd half and tell me you don’t notice it.

At some point it’s on the coaches for not benching him, but with Miles hurt I guess they thought they needed the scoring?

At least nobody need to worry about somebody stealing him!

I think this is less about a James Rojas obsession and more about trying to find someone who gives effort but also possesses a modicum of athletic ability. The fact that nobody gives any effort is, of course, the real issue.

Dude, you way out of line for this thread PERIOD. THE PLAYERS (LEADERS) NEED TO GROW A PAIR...Nate Oats is an exceptional coach. We just got a lot of guys with no GET UP ABOUT THEM.

So exceptional he built this sorry team, can't motivate them, can't get them to defend and can't even run actually offensive plays or sets when we're struggling.

Case of good recruiter, good coach, just a bad stretch during a season
