The NIT has always been second rate but feel like more so now. Most of the good bubble teams don't even play.

Aden wouldn’t have made much of difference maybe slightly closer game. Bama lost that game in the preseason with a whiff on two bigs in the transfer portal and the freshmen big ruled out with a heart issue. This was a nightmare matchup for Bama.
Has a 17-16 at large team ever made it? Losing 9/10 down the stretch lost for AU.

Oats completely whiffed in the portal this year and will limit this team in the tournament. Williamson is unplayable, TBB is close to unplayable and Bethea is a defensive liability. The rest of the transfers are injured.

Yep, Bruce waited until right before the season to retire because by then the roster was intact for his son to have some success even though it was rebuilding year. Steven is just a bad coach. Bruce would likely have 3-4 more wins with this group.

Because Bama involved it is getting people attention. Baylor won a national title a few years ago and outrage basically non-existent.
Bediako never should have declared in the first place and was never drafted. Too many of these players are getting bad information. He’s a good college player but that is about it

Golden talked shite and backed it up, bad look for Oats ability to motivate. This Florida team is good but not great. Florida just owns Bama in basketball the last 20+ years to the point I don’t think we will ever consistently beat them.
Glad I didn’t watch the game, had a feeling this would happen. This team is middle of the pack SEC team this year, very disappointing.
It’s primarily Walz and Frey fault for inciting riots and violence. If they had let ICE go in and do its job this would all be over or almost over by now. Let them get in and do the job and get out.

Problem is it will be too late if we wait to make a run because we either won’t get in or get a shitty seed. This team can’t defend or rebound and TBB and Williamson were terrible misses by Oats
Team just not very good, this is the biggest drop off in the Oats era. Will end up around .500 in conference on the bubble and bounced the first weekend.

Yes, I agree that Bediako is a different player than Williamson and more like Onyejiaka, but still the point remains that the coaching staff missed here taking a flyer on a guy with a heart condition. Now they are trying to cover it up.
I think this has a lot to do with Byrne saying FU to the rest of the country all of this is insane and needs to be fixed pronto. Nobody cared when Baylor did it but now that it is Bama it will get some people's attention.

Going to be difficult for AU and many other programs in NIL era however hopefully NIL/portal is rectified at some point. TX and OU joining the league knocked AU down a peg. They will be consistently middle of the pack in the SEC going forward.

Agreed, I guess this shows the lack of confidence in Mack to get it done against high level competition.
I heard from a co-worker who knew someone connected with the program midway through the season about the bulging disc. Just terrible luck that impacted the ceiling of this team. Injuries are the great neutralizer.
