The one-year suspension is triggered once he's hired. So he has to serve it after being hired.

Pruitt received a six-year show-cause order and would be suspended for the first full season if he was hired by an NCAA school.

Gotcha. Thanks. Well, lets hire him so he can get the year suspension out of the way.

Is the one year suspension in addition to whatever other penalties may be handed out to whoever hires him with the show cause in effect or is that the penalty for hiring him with the show cause in effect? If it's the former he's untouchable for a while. If it's the latter he better be in Tuscaloosa next week.

Make him sit in the Press Box as an analyst then he's good to go

Pretty sure he wouldn't be allowed to sit in the press box as an analyst while serving a one-year suspension.

Wouldn’t be surprised his suspension didn’t start today as an analyst for us.

So suspended for 1 year and can't be associated with program so technically he can be employed and do something on education side?

Anyone else notice that Fat Phil wasn’t mentioned in the penalties. He was the athletic director who hired him in the first place. Why does that fat son of a bitch keep evading trouble with the NCAA ? Does he have a deal in place or something? He was squarely in the middle of the Albert Means saga and UT got off Scott free.

I’m thinking that fat no good piece of shite is the one that cut Pruitt’s throat to get him fired. Fulmer has no shame what so ever. He’s as low down as a man can get. Major’s found that out

Pruitt should have known better taking that job and working for a snake like Fulmer.

Agreed but I also believe that Alabama may have dodged a bullet with him leaving. Imagine if he had stayed on at Alabama and eventually became Saban’s successor. He could’ve done something really stupid like he did at Tennessee and gotten Alabama hammered. We all know that the NCAA will whack us at the drop of a hat.

What I'm about to say won't be popular but if Saban won't rehire Pruitt it will be a bigger mistake than keeping Golden around for 4 full seasons.

Yes, having a DC under a show cause would be a challenge but it wouldn't be a greater challenge than having an inept DC who destroyed the talent at the ILB position.

Downvote me all you want but the SEC is only going to get tougher. We can't roll out a milquetoast DC going forward. Yes, Kevin Steele is an upgrade over Golden but how much does Steele have in the tank going forward? My biggest issue with the Steele hire is that I am concerned about his lack of adjustments made at Miami last season.

Does Pruitt's show cause go back to 2021?

if anyone hires Pruitt before the show cause is up, you basically have to do without him doing anything in your program for a year. You put yourself down a coach and down a recruiter for a whole year. Nobody is worth that
