I was going to start a thread on this whole thing, but y'all beat me to it.

I was driving today when I heard the first segment in which this was discussed. Suttles said it was his OPINION, based on sources, that Jalen was going to redshirt, not play unless needed, graduate, and transfer out at the end of the year. He said that was what would make the most sense for everyone involved.

(Frankly, I think anyone with half a brain expected this scenario to play out exactly that way.)

For the next hour or so, this was obviously the main topic on the show. HOWEVER, when they would come back from break, or reset the conversation, it was no longer apparent that this was an opinion Suttles voiced. Landrum Roberts, on more than one occasion, would say something like "If you're just joining us, Aaron Suttles has broken the news that Jalen Hurts will redshirt ..."

Only once did I hear Suttles semi-correct him, saying "This is what I think will happen." The rest of the time, they invited speculation on where Jalen would transfer.

As I said, I think this makes sense, and is best for everyone in this situation. But I'm bothered by the blatant attempt to manufacture news out of an opinion in this way. As noted previously, they did the exact same thing last Friday; Suttles voiced his OPINION that Jalen would start, and they spent the rest of the show stating it as fact and asking callers to react to this "news."

I take everything Aaron Suttles says or writes with a grain of salt. I was disappointed that he was hired at The Athletic as the Alabama beat writer. He is easily the weakest reporter over there.

...Jalen was not the stand up guy that he portrayed himself to be last year. He was all humble pie, #blessed, when he was starting, but once he lost that job we began to see the real Jalen and the real Hurts parents. The apple usually doesn't land too far from the tree.

On the sidelines I see a Jalen Hurts who isn't really that involved anymore and upon whose face false humility no longer covers aloofness. Saying stuff like he did in August, and holding team meetings where he tells people that he's got to do what's best for him, supposedly quitting the team and his dad saying he's going to be a free agent. This guy is poison. I used to really like Jalen...not any more.

That's been my suspicion as soon as his dad lipped off about the free-agent thing.

I'm hoping Mac plays so well we never go back to Jalen.

I'm listening now. They say Hurts' family came to an agreement with the program to only play if Tua gets hurt.

Why in the Hell would Saban or any other Coach make this "Deal"? Hurts should be done for the sake of the team.

Based on what????

Damn some of you are some damn tools. I've not yet heard anything from hurts or Saban that says I should feel this way.

Hurts has been a stand up guy and that's all I have to go on.

I've never seen an Alabama football player so rudely disrespected by the fan base. I have nothing but love and respect for Jalen Hurts and I can't believe some of the venom being spit at him by fans of the program. He's given his all despite his obvious talent deficiencies when it comes to throwing the football. I can't fault the man for wanting the job. He's a competitor and I would expect nothing less from him.

But he was beat out by Tua. Just accept that Tua is better and move on. Jalen gave his best and sometimes it's not good enough.

Seriously, what P5 school will want Jalen? I can only think of one that he's a fit for. Wonder if Paul Johnson has contacted him.

I have accepted it and have always wanted the best player to play on the field, whether that be Tua or Jalen. The problem is the majority of you have yet to move on.

Contrary to popular belief, you can accept Tua is the better QB and still like and support Jalen. I know that's hard to believe but it is true.

Which is a testament to how much Saban likes and respects the kid.

As Saban has pretty much said the same thing, I would assume there isn't.

We really do have some fricking trashy fans. This is the kind of shite you expect from LSU fans. We're supposed to be better than that.

Anyone who would shite on a kid who has been 100% Bama is a fricking loser.

I think you have to bear in mind Jalen got thrown into the fire as well in the USC game. At the time he was our best option and gave us a chance to win. For all his faults as a player, from everything I can tell, gave it his all. Had he got more time to develop and learn the QB position, it might have turned out different. I think Saban is sympathetic but understands the bottom line is winning.

I swear, some of you are acting like absolute morons.

No college football coach in America wants to have only two quarterbacks on scholarship. Not one single coach. Three QBs is a minimum, and four is preferred.

If Jalen just up and quits the team, as some of you seem to want, the only QBs we have are Tua and Mac Jones. This is not a recipe for success. If you don't believe me, listen to Nick Saban.

Transfers have hurt us at the QB position. Saban wants to keep Jalen on the team for a variety of reasons, but one of those is a simple numbers game. He doesn't want to be two injuries away from starting a QB who's been playing wide receiver, or defensive back, or whatever.

Some of you need to get over your irrational dislike of Jalen Hurts to see that Saban is managing this situation as best he can, to give his team -- the team we all pull for -- the best chance to be as successful as possible this year.

Which is why we're all thankful that Saban doesn't give a damn what some inbred TD poster in lower Alabama thinks he should do.

What? From the USC game his freshman year through the NC game this past season he received the bulk of the practice reps and game reps. His growth should have been greater than any time in his life and certainly more than anyone on the roster.

His play in that game made most of us think we had our very own elite dual threat quarterback. I think we all wanted it to work out for him. The stage was never too big for Hurts.

Houston would be a good fit for him or even New-Braska.
