Former Florida and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier was on the "Another Dooley Noted Podcast" this week and spoke about the Lane Kiffin situation at Ole Miss.

Spurrier said that Kiffin should finish what he started with the Rebels this season and make a decision after the playoff run. Per Newsweek:
quote:

"Everybody's waiting to see what Lane Kiffin's going to do Saturday after the Egg Bowl... He'll have a lot of cameras on him for the Egg Bowl," Spurrier said. "It is a touchy situation. Seems like if they would just say, ‘Hey, I am going to coach this team until the season is over. If nobody wants to wait for me, I don’t care. I’m going to coach this season and finish it off. Because we started it.’"

"It's good to finish whatever the heck you started," the legendary coach continued. "They've got possibly the best team in school history. Give him and that team a chance to finish out... Just wait until it's all over. But they're not doing it that way."

OM cant allow LK to coach them in the playoffs if hes leaving to go be the HC of a conf rival that you have to play every year. Thatd be a new kind of stupid.

As much as I dislike spurrier, I agree with him in this case. Ole Miss has a chance to be a national championship contender this year and he stands to gain little by coming to LSU or UF a couple of weeks earlier.

So Penn State fires their coach the season after he had them essentially one play from the CFP. Coaches now get shown zero loyalty by schools/boosters. And the calendar is very problematic

Exactly. To fire that man after that was sad. He apparently had a very short leash after that. Glad he was able to land on his feet at a good school. Sure he'll do well.

Does he not understand that OM is making him sign an extension to “finish what he started?” That’s been the whole issue. He could’ve just kept that dumbass shite to himself.

Saban said it best, it isn’t Lane’s fault how these schedules are lined up. He’s forced to act now or LSU will be forced to go elsewhere. No matter what happens, Ole Miss is probably screwed and that’s just the way things are. We’ve had the exact same things happen to us. Great coaches leaving as soon as the next job opens up. It’s a part of the game now, the NCAA made sure of that with recruiting and transfer timelines. That is not on him. I wouldn’t listen to any of these people. Do what is best for you. Period. That’s what these players do and that’s what these clowns doing all the talking do as well.

Only Lane Kiffin would dump a lifetime deal a chance to win a title at a nobody program for a huge contract in a backwoods neighboring state at a school that is actively trying to avoid their financial guarantees to the last bad hire they made.

This is stupid advice, because it's Ole Miss that is forcing Kiffin to go ahead and make a decision. You'd think Spurrier would know that.

Spurrier is right.

This is why Kiffin isn’t going to UF. He’s still at Ole Miss and Spurrier is already meddling.

Of course Spurrier does not want Lane Kiffen at LSU.

Coach O quotes are the ones that I hear. Occasionally, I have to read them several times to understand what he is saying. Other than "Geaux Tigah's" that is.

Steve has always had the “do as I say, not as I do” mentality. Class is not in his repertoire
