re: SEC ump doing SEC umping

You stop, I’ve seen at least 5 called strikes for Arkansas and then balls for LSU. Truth is Cowan is pitching better and umpiring plus lsu approach mixed is making the Ark pitcher look much better than he is.
Well they better hope this pans out for them. It sure didn’t for Tennessee when they paid all that money for that QB a while back. This type of money needs to get you to a national championship or at least the title game. I think LSU is doing it right because you can still get really good solid players for a bargain and win. You just need to have the right pieces in place like QB, DL, OL, WR and I’d throw LB in there. I think LSU is doing it right. Pay these players but be realistic about it. I mean unless this guy is Bowers or a future HOF NFL type of TE, he’s not worth that money. I’m sorry but that’s the truth. I mean we have some pretty darn good TEs on the roster. We just need those kids that are hungry and have the talent. Like Moss was. Moss was not Bowers but he played his roll well.

If Jones can start to get hot at the same time as Hernandez and Frey, there is the long ball offense we’ve been missing all year.

I’ll tell you what, Mr. Dickinson needs to turn it on as well. If our line up would actually get hot like they are all capable of, we’d be unbeatable.

Need to adjust to this guy. First pitch swinging. We’d be much more successful against him. He’s trying to get 0-2 so his first two pitches are typically the best pitches, especially against the first and third outs. That second out he pitches a little backwards.

Have to adjust to his speed a little. Swing a little earlier or a little later. Easier to say but can be done. Either that or start pinch hitting guys to get a different batter in there. Josh might have some magic in him. Get more of those Louisiana boys in that lineup coach.

Either way. He was the most rested pitcher we had. If not Friday then yesterday. We win that game easy last night had he started. We had all the pitching in the world And it takes all the pressure off the young guys coming in. I don’t like starting the guys we did last night with tons of pressure on them. They aren’t very accurate to begin with but that makes it much tougher. Evan’s is a true first rounder.

It sure seems like it. I thought for sure we’d start Evan’s and finish it with whoever. You easily get 5 scoreless innings from Evan’s. I could see this coming a mile away. Our relievers are not accurate pitchers. You might get an inning from them consistently. If you lucky 2-3. That’s been all season long for the most part. You go with Evan’s, Cowan, Noot, and finish with whoever you like, because all you need is an inning or two after those guys. And they don’t walk people. That was obvious to me and imo Johnson was hoping to get his best from these guys but why? You win this and that’s it. Unless he wanted to get some work in from everyone. I guess he got that done but I know damn well that’s not it.

And these freakn pop ups man. I’m getting sick of these pop ups!!!

We also talking about SEC competition and scouting. Those guys have seen pitchers like those two, this team hasn’t. When our guys have actually pitched strikes, they put up zeros. They only losing this game because they can’t throw a damn strike. Evan’s and Cowan both have very hard pitches to hit. I would have started Evan’s. Got 5-7 innings from him, put Cowan in there, change of pace, then came with in with some heaters throwing. It’s not traditional but it would have won the game.

Why didn’t we start Evan’s or Cowan to just go for the win tonight instead of saving them? Haven’t seen either pitch in a while.
I think it’s all of the above! And he absolutely knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t need to win this tournament. He wants to get his guys some good baseball experience before playing next week and this helped him do all of it.

While still having and giving other guys a booster shot in the arm to go win this thing with them. If they do, it’ll be a huge boost for their confidence going forward, if they don’t, maybe they come back next week and perform better. But we still have plenty of arms to win this or play deep into it.

That’s the entire point of this tournament, not to necessarily win it but to win while also setting yourself up for tournament success. That’s when this matters anyway. We have three legit starters left to pitch the rest of this thing and relievers to finish. While also giving them some confidence when something is on the line. It matters but it’s not the end of a season if they don’t and if they do, it could help us down the line.
I’d like to see us go get one really solid RB honestly. I’m aware we have some good options but we don’t have a guy that we can just lean on in the 3rd and 4th quarter to demoralize teams at the end of a game. We need that guy. I’d go get a big RB/FB type who has quickness but maybe lacks top end speed. Full of power and is quick. We need a weapon like that for some of these teams. Right now I see a finesse type of offense, with the personnel we have. We could use a different dimension if needed. Idk just my opinion. We have a bruiser, but can he get any yards. Need someone who will go get 3-5 yards when needed.
That’s baseball people. You have slumps and then you get out of them. It happens routinely in baseball. That goes for pitchers and hitters. You hope that one doesn’t go cold with the other. Right now both are a little cooled off. It may or may not pick back up. We have a solid team, but it could be better for sure. We are playing really good teams right now, so they want to win these games just as bad as LSU. The bats will have to come alive to win this series today. I think it’s time for them to get together and say, it’s now or never and go out there to take this game today. We have the better arms locked and loaded for today’s game. It’s the walks, wild pitches and hit batters that are killing us right now. We have to stop giving free bases to these good teams, period.
Will Campbell is going to tear it up in the NFL. First tackle picked for a damn good reason. Hell he can even pull and play TE if he wanted to. Dude made most SEC DEs look like trash since he was 18. He’s still a boy really. Give him 3-4 years and he’s going to be a monster in the NFL. He’s also extremely durable and has the correct mindset of Mr. Bully when he’s playing. Will Campbell will be just fine. T-Rex lol I like it actually!
Different conferences yes, but still very good competition to grade out that high. Take him and another “veteran” for rotational purposes. Get them while you can. Unless they feel that good about the depth we currently have. IMO you can never have enough depth on the lines.
They do need to find one and it needs to be just as big of a hit as Bo Davis was. Really irritates me when LSU finally brings in a guy like Bo Davis and he leaves a year later. Seems to happen to LSU quite frequently. Need to go find a proven coach but then also go find an up and comer to come as an assistant to see what he can do on the sidelines so when this happens we have a guy who can both coach and recruit his butt off. They are out there, we just need to go find them.

I kinda like the idea of bringing in the instate guy at Nicholls State who had his guys dominating our OL last year as the assistant behind a big named proven guy who might eventually leave. I believe it was Nicholls. Bring him in with the hopes of taking over if it works out. If not then he can always move on to another smaller school or even get hired by a bigger school from LSU. I’m sure we can find the money to match what he’s getting now. It’s making a jump to a bigger school even if it’s in an assisted role to someone with a proven record at this level.

Go after all the big names and just see what happens. Whether they are with teams or not. It is worth paying for and having the best DL coach in the country you can possibly get your hands on. After a few seasons of stocking up the talent, then think about bringing someone younger in who might be cheaper. But for now we need to prove ourselves on the field and with recruiting. Last year was a decent year and we definitely saw improvements. I love the DE coach but having a great interior coach is huge. I like the new hire for the interior OL so let’s go get the same for the DL. Deion Barnes, Nick Eason, Terrance Knighton, Rodney Gardener, Jess Simpson, Corey Brown, or Eric McDaniel would also be a good one. Have to get one of the top 10 guys.
LSU need to be ready and willing to spend for these top QBs, DL, OL, and LBs. RBs, WRs DBs can be found but need to be willing to match for all of our top guys.
I don’t see why not, now that the NIL game has changed completely, he’d be a perfect fit here and he already knows LSU and how to recruit here.

If Arkansas can hire Petrino back as a coach then what Will Wade did here is nothing in comparison. LSU just needs to admit it may have jumped the gun here and just ask him to come back. It was a great fit and the man can both recruit and coach. Even if he isn’t the best on the floor coach, he can easily get an assistant to help him with that role. At the same time, I’m certain he’s aware of what he did and has learned from it. I’m also certain that us fans are not given the full story. There’s probably much more to it than what has been given to the public. We don’t know if the statements are even true, to what degree if they are true or the context within the story given.

I say go for it and I think it’s the other way around, he might not want to come back to a place that did that to him. I completely understand that what he did wasn’t right and also not very wise but he was still young and at a huge institution like LSU, trying to compete with the best in the country. All he was trying to do was put LSU on top, by any means necessary. At the very least, you have to respect that fact.

I’m anxious to see what the new and young DTs like McKinley are going to do in this bowl game because the last few starts he’s had, he’s looked unmovable. Looks a lot like Brockers in 2011, just unmovable and athletic. I’m also curious how they will use the new big guy up front. I’d imagine that he will be used for certain packages like the 3 man fronts and short yardage/goalline situations. I’m hoping that safety sticks and doesn’t decide to enter the draft. If we keep all these transfers, we should be a top 25 defense next year. I also think that center we just picked up will make a huge impact on this OL. It allows us to play everyone at their natural positions. The WRs look good as well. I’d probably pick up another DT, OL and DB.
