Wilson Alexander of The Advocate has reported some details on Lane Kiffin's new deal at LSU.

Kiffin and LSU agreed to a seven-year, $91 million deal, according to his term sheet. His $13 million-per-year deal makes him one of just two coaches, along with Georgia's Kirby Smart, earning at least $13 million.

According to Alexander, Kiffin's contract includes an automatic escalator that would make him the highest-paid coach in the country if he wins the national championship.

Here's another interesting wrinkle to Kiffin's contract as it relates to Ole Miss' postseason run, according to Alexander:

This has been updated to include a fascinating part of Lane Kiffin's deal: LSU agreed to pay his postseason bonuses even though he won't coach Ole Miss in the CFP, so he could still make up to $1 million if the Rebels win a national title without him.

When games stop being shown on TV, the size of contracts will shrink.

Crazy, LSU is going to pay him according to his Ole Miss incentives even though he's not at OM anymore. For example, if OM makes the CFP, LSU will pay him $150K and if OM makes the NC game, LSU will pay him $1 Mill... It was his choice to come to LSU, leave the OM contract details behind at OM.

Those amounts are chump change in the grand scheme of things.

To ensure that his men were properly motivated, when he reached the New World, he had his ships scuttled.

I mean, yeah he was the best coach available but that contract is massive for someone who was 32-17 in SEC Play at Ole Miss with 0 Titles/Championships to his name.....

So it took Year 5 & 6 to see success. Will LSU give him that much time?

Worth it. Best coach available beside Saban and Smart. At least LSU offense will be lethal with him and our talent. BB has the defense, plus the 25+ mil in NIL money. A dynasty is coming together. GEAUX TIGERS!

A single man in a college town making that kind of money? He already won. He is not interested in furthering LSU lol

Don't need 5, LSU has 3 freshman that will be good at some regardless of what people think and Lamar Brown coming in
