re: I don’t think some people realize the how big this is

for non-LSU fans it's just an interesting headline...
for us, it's vindication from the past two coach hiring cycles... always a bridesmaid, never a bride type of thing
for us, it's vindication from the past two coach hiring cycles... always a bridesmaid, never a bride type of thing
quote:
There is nothing that says Lane can stay in one place longterm.
no, i get that... and yeah, that's the fear with hiring Lane... but i just think he's tried the NFL, and it just not his thing... i could be wrong... but i think with a mentor like Saban, i could see him heeding the advice to remain in college, wherever that may be, vs. going to the NFL....
quote:recently, meaning since he got sober and shite, or before then.... not saying it was the booze talking, but he seems to be a different type of dude since getting sober... much more introspective and what not
He has also alluded to wanting another shot in the NFL.
quote:
tries the NFL again
i really don't see that happening... i really think he will emulate Saban and will be totally fine just being a great college coach....
Saban was a failure in the NFL, but is widely regarded as one of the best HCs in the history of the game, all b/c of just college coaching...
quote:
Jerry Dinardo were at the helm.
Gerry started off fine.... 1st, he got Faulk to stay in state, which started that ball rolling, vs. before, where all top flight talent left LA.... 2nd, the 96 team went 10-2 and won the West, and the 97 team went 9-3 and won the West again...
it did start to unravel in 98, where they had a fricking brutal schedule, and it just sorta snowballed from there.... but even so, while he may not be regarded as one of the best LSU coaches of all time, he did have a little success while here, so let's not act like he didn't

i think with Kiffin in the fold, it's inevitable that he flips to LSU.... may not be right off the bat, but he will eventually make it into that class
man, we got a lot of big characters as HCs.... Mulkey, Jay, now Lane...
quote:
Bama is not guaranteed. 3 losses including a two TD loss to a 5-7 team is not playoff worthy.
i agree....
no, b/c Ben Johnson is a MUCHHHHHHHH better coach than Kellen Moore will ever be...
quote:
Personally I would rather forfeit than let that POS coach. OM will lose countless boosters if they let him take the field. Most of us want him gone yesterday
get the frick out of here with this lying arse bullshite

this is how you handle a situation with tact and grace...
wish your fellow Rebel fans would be a little more like you... vs. the "we didn't want him anyway" bullshite they are so desperately trying right now....
quote:
I’m just telling you. This is BK2
funny.... i don't remember too many Rebel fans clammoring for his firing... until now...
weird how that works.....
quote:
About 80-90% of want him gone
and if the shoe were on the other foot, and it was being reported he signed his extension and is staying, it would be water under the bridge for that same percentage....

Saban brought LSU from an above avg program to ELITE.
LSU fanbase should be appreciative as frick.
exactly... not even sure what all the "hate" for Saban is about... he didn't leave us to go to Bama... he left here to go try the NFL... sure, he may have lied a little before heading out, but it is what it is....
the "hate" is just deep seeded jealousy, seeing a rival like Bama basically become a dynasty with the guy who brought us up, who we thought would be our coach who would bring us into a dynasty...
but if you can't let that shite go, at this point, then you are just one unhappy, unappreciative shite bag... but to each their own, i guess...
it sucks that Saban had as much success as he did for our rival, but i don't hate him for it... i hate that it wasn't us, but the person, the man, the coach, Nick Saban, i don't hate... i will forever be grateful for his intuition and ability to see the future landscape of college football when he did, for LSU... we wouldn't even be close to the program we are today if Nick Saban never happened to LSU :geauxtigers:

I'd like to keep Baker, Frank, Corey and Kyle Williams.... the rest of the coach staff can get fricked

Bama is lateral to LSU
i'm as big an LSU fan you are probably going to find, but no, we are not a lateral move to Bama.... the 2 SEC jobs that i'd put above LSU, in terms of where they are as a program, UGA and Bama.... there's a reason they are dominating, year in and year out
quote:
Apparently not b/c if they were this would be resolved by now.
are you paying attention... at all? they absolutely are telling him if he picks LSU he has to go now, they aren't letting him coach during the playoff...
so if they are telling him that, which apparently they are, then we don't need to do it too... let them be the bad guy and push him right to us... we get the end result we want anyway, without having to be the bad new bearer and giving him the ultimatum.... don't you see how that works to our favor?

DJ Durkin going to het the Auburn job
it's sorta felt like they are sorta comfortable just going with him... they really haven't been linked with many names during this period... i think they are fine with letting the dust settle, and if it's Durkin, then so be it
quote:
LSU should mandate he accept the position full-time now
why, when Ole Miss is apparently doing that for us already?

You are correct. I stand by my substantive points, but I apologize for the needless tone. I get too invested in LSU FB. In the end it doesn't matter.
