Oats just said 2 weeks ago that his injury was concerning but the trainers say Wrightsell is way ahead of schedule and they expect him back for the first game. Said he was already jumping.

Sounds like Philon doesn’t want to be a student or anything like it.

The barns point guard lit it up at the combine scrimmage. 23 points, 8 assists. Hope someone takes him early.

What is the deal with the shot gun that got fired. The Tuscaloosa detective found evidence of it having been fired. Who fired it and did it hit Davis. When was it fired? The detective gave a word salad response for not entering the waddings into evidence. He also said “it looked like” the first shot came from outside the black car. Looks like? Blurry picture.

Since Joka sort of brought this us, what do you guys believe Philon's strength is. He has good height for a point guard. Early in the year he had a pretty good soft float shot on his drives in the paint. His lob passes to the center were pretty good. But IMO he isnt a great shooter, he isnt a great ball handler, he wasnt a great passer other than the lobs, he doesnt drive hard to the basket like Sears and create fouls. He isnt super quick and thus isnt a great defender. Not saying he was bad at these things, but was he great at them?

Also had the opposite happen during that storm. Carson Tinker's girl friend died after they and 2 other friend were hurled 50 to 100 yards by the tornado.
Ashley Harrison died from a broken neck. The others and 2 dogs survived.
They were in a closet together when the storm hit them.

Sounds like, from their vocabulary, these guys have a PE degree from a small school you never heard of. But the same could be said of Tubberville and he is a US senator from guess where.

re: Keelon Russell Will Be The Starter

We are not going to play a turnover prone qb and that is what has been going on this spring. I remember coach Superior’s first year at Florida he said the quarterback he picked was the only one who could take the snap from center and not fumble. Talent at round you and coaching are factors. One nfl scout said Mac would never have as much talent around him as he was playing with at Alabama. Then you have Gary Hollingsworth who was the 3rd string qb at Alabama with Homer Smith as the OC. Gary didn’t play any until both quarterbacks in front of him got hurt. Hollingsworth was 1 st string all sec qb. The next season Mal Moore was our OC and he wanted to change the offense and throw the ball deep.
He screwed everything up.

I was hoping they would keep him. He isnt that good, and when he screwed up a game the viles would have booed the H out of him

I think he has slow feet and you cannot fix that. He can’t dribble drive and most of the time can’t shoot well. You need quick feet to be good in bball. There are exceptions like Larry Bird, but he could shoot the ball

I dont agree. The 75-76 Ala team had the best Ala roster ever. We lost in the second round to Indiana who went undefeated and was proclaimed as Bobbly Kinghts best team. We were ahead late in the game and would have won but the refs decided we were not allowed to beat that Indiana team..
Bobby Knight said after the tournament that Alabama was the best team they played that year. Several of the players on that Ala team played in the NBA.

It was pretty obvious that the FL coach had jacked them up about playing physical. I dont believe their coaches were worried too much about fouls except the 2 flagrant fouls. I think it was their Auburn game that one of the FL assistant coaches had a 3 minute profanity filled tirade and told them it was ok to lose but it was NOT OK to get pushed all over the court.
You are not going to beat the thug physical teams unless you are willing to get in the ditch with them.

It was in 1961 saw several of those games- Natl Champ team. Was 10 yrs old
Pat Trammel, LeRoy and that bunch .
Was in Grant field in Atlanta to see us lose to Ga Tech in the rain in 62. Could not believe we lost. We were down by one late in the game and Joe Namath was driving us down to about the Tech 25. Bryant took Namath out and put Jack Hulbert in for one play. He threw an interception. Couldnt believe it.
And we had a good field goal kicker--Tim Davis

The way the refs are calling the game, you basically need a human bull dozer to play center, and just lower the shoulder and drive through any defensive player that gets in his way in the paint. It just crazy that they let offensive players just lower the shoulder and drive through anyone in the paint.
