bama Hammer article

"The lack of RB usage has caught the attention of Alabama 4-star commitment Nigel Newkirk. Despite remaining committed to the Crimson Tide, Newkirk has reopened his recruitment and has a planned trip to Ohio State on the docket."

""I feel like they should really use the run game just a little more," Newkirk said, via Bama247's Olivia Sayer."

"Alabama's leading rusher, junior Daniel Hill, averages under nine carries a game. Talented true freshmen Trae'shawn Brown and EJ Crowell are averaging eight and five, respectively."

deBoer HAS to get rid of his butt buddy.

We offered another RB when Newkirk recently agreed to visit Ohio State if I recall correctly.

Believe Newkirk is just getting back from a knee injury as well.

If I was a running back.. I wouldn’t play for Grubb.. that’s just being honest. I damn sure wouldn’t come in when 2 are ahead of me on a depth chart.. Seahawks fans understand

Unless Grubb leaves on his own, Deboer will get canned before he 'fires" Grubb.

I still think Greg Byrne is gonna make CKD get rid of Grubb once the season is over.

We'll see, but Deboer is the one holding most the power. Byrne cornered himself financially with the extension. So if Deboer doesn't want to fire Grubb, Byrne really has no financial option to do anything about it.

Everybody can complain about Grubb, but Deboer keeps him so he must approve of what he is doing. So ultimately Deboer is the problem. People are just not to that level of acceptance yet for a few reasons.....It really doesn't matter. College football is not going to be a priority for people over the coming years with the world situation in decline.

Grubb's contract expires in Feb 2027 and he won't be extended.

I would certainly hope that insubordination would be a legitimate reason to fire for cause.

Byrne and the board can just refuse to extend/re-up Grubb's contract. Runs out in Feb 2027.

They are not going to tie a coach’s hand IMO.. it will have to be Grubb or KD decision

The part about Grubbs contract ending is not inside info. I think he probably leaves on his own.

I think Grubb not getting an extension when the rest of the staff did let's us know he's probably exiting the building after this season and it is probably going to be on a voluntary basis. From a personal standpoint, I don't think he or his wife like it in the south, or at least Alabama, and more than likely will be trying to get out on the first thing smoking after the season.

He can fire one assistant, or he can get them all fired.

Byrne can certainly have the Mal Moore/Mike Shula conversation though.

This may be true. North Alabama just elected a transgender to represent them. We also have a Muslim Brotherhood member in the Senate now that could be placed in the Senate intelligence committee. Anyway, back to football

Lol, this has nothing to do with Grubb. The RB room is stacked and Newkirk was always a OSU/Bama battle

Hill/Crowell/Traeshawn will all be getting snaps next year and Crowell/Traeshawn guarantee a three headed rotation his sophomore year

Unbelievable y’all fall for this bait. Grubb going to a single back structure isn’t the answer nor what we should be pining for, we have too much talent at RB. Even if we follow this logic you guys are whining that Newkirk is running from not being the bellcow over Crowell under a single back system

Jfc guys

I don't expect all three of those backs to be here next season. Grubb does good to get two of the backs quality carries. No way he gets three of them the number of carries to keep them happy. One of them will transfer at some point.

If Byrne forces CKD to replace Grubb, Byrne becomes the owner of that choice. Should THAT forced change not work, Byrne's job is on the line such that his replacement gets to replace CKD after Byrne is gone.

Byrne has made some good coaching hires, taking personnel control away from CKD is a move I am not sure Byrne will take. If he does, the backlash over that choice and the impact on future coaching hires would be a huge hit on his career trajectory.
