Everyone is talking about the non-PI penalty, and I know fans are discussing it, but how in the world did they over-turn the QB Reese INT?

The thing that made it so weird was how quickly it happened. They brought in Matt Austin “the rules expert” and you can 100% tell he either has a say in the outcome or he’s given the ruling so he can justify it on TV before it’s announced by the officials….he was so rushed with his “explanation”.

Normally they would take a good while to over-turn a call that was ruled an interception on the field, and the referee that was looking at it on the field looked at it for approximately 10-15 seconds at the most, then Matt Austin is asked about it and he hurriedly says “no question I’ve got this one as incomplete”. No video angle, no explanation that shows “definitive proof”.
If anything the video just reinforced the interception.

The one I think people overlook is the 9 yard loss on the tackle on T Brown on the quick screen where his helmet was ripped off (by the facemask).

Contact was made at 3 yards behind the LOS and his forward progress was stopped at -3, arguably -4 at the very most.

A 9 yard loss is a major disaster that you only see on a Sack where the QB retreats out of the pocket. His helmet gets ripped completely off at approximately 6-7 yards behind the LOS.

To make that a 9 yard loss at take them out of FG range seemed bizarre imo. Throw in the no call on the facemask and it looks even more strange.

It was everything...from the start the spots were questionable. Throw in the clock issues. Then the multiple incorrect calls or no calls.
It just reeks of being intentional...not merely incompetence.

The officials should be investigated. It was that egregious.

I agree.

The ball was spotted in some odd places the entire game.

It was the speed and “finality” of the “no he didn’t catch it” by Matt Austin right before the referee on the field also hurriedly announced that it was over-turned.

That was THE defining play of the game imo.

Also the “9 yard loss” when Georgia blew up the WR screen then ripped Brown’s helmet off that put them out of FG range seemed sketch af too.

The RW non-targeting call at midfield on 3rd and 4 was another one.

I thought they should have taken a look at the ball Hubbard was celebrating then pleading for the INT call in the endzone…..I’ve watched it several times and zoomed in as much as possible and it looks like the ball was lying on top the WR’s wrist in an awkward position but never actually made contact with the ground.

That was another play they just hurriedly glossed over.

Think of all the games where they spend 10 minutes deciding where to spot the ball in the 1st quarter of a game and it’s only the difference in a few meaningless yards…..then last night they either didn’t review or over-turned critical calls in less than 15-30 seconds.

These were all calls that are getting overshadowed by the non-PI call, which was just as ludicrous as the others.

Absolutely ridiculous they overturned the Interception by Reese. They initially ruled it was an interception and they overturned the call after reviewing it for 10 seconds and there was zero evidence of the ball hitting the ground. I would love to know what the refs saw that made them so confident the ball hit the ground. That call completely changed the outcome of the game.

Austin is a clown. I usually dismiss his commentary, because he almost always tries to be a homer for the refs' initial call.
However, on the interception, that defied his normal protocol.
He even said that the ball hits his arms then his chest therefore it's an incompletion

We scored before halftime but to be honest that play really should have been stopped. If Crowell had not bounced that outside, we would have gotten stopped.......We are good on the lines but overall Georgia is still better on DL and OL than us generally. We got near zero push from our DL all night.

Agree that Ga looked better then us. But they were also lucky. They fumbled several times and got them all back. Their quarterback and receivers are really good players, though. Stockton seems much improved.
On the Williams head injury, it looked like the second player that hit him on that play was a helmet to helmet hit, and the Ga player launched himself at Coleman Williams.

Very fortunate that wasn't reviewed. It likely would have been called a touchdown for Georgia.

And no, I'm not joking.

It’s a crazy play if you go back and watch it, and zoom in the best you can, but the ball is laying on top of the WR’s hand/wrist.

Maybe they do rule it a TD, seems like that was the way it was going to go last night, but either way, that ball never touches the ground at any point

"If what happened didnt happen then the result would have been different." Ok. Crowell made a great play and was better than the UGA defense on that play. He also got a nice block from 40 to allow him to bounce outside.

But speaking of that play-we should have had time for 2 plays. Idk what the frick was going on there at the end of the first half, but I cant comprehend how the refs just let the clock run after the first down, and then didnt even stop play to put the correct amount of time on the clock. I think UGA even took a timeout and they still did nothing about it. Didnt matter in the end because we scored, but it was just total frickery by the refs there.

The refs even screwed up the obvious spot on Keelon’s first first down run.

Most incompetent crew I’ve ever seen at BDS and what makes it worse is the SEC will do absolutely nothing about it.
