To throw more confusion into the "Who will Arch Manning pick?" drama, the QB recruit told On3 earlier this week that Athens is the "best college town" he's been to so far...

“I love coach Kirby (Smart), and he’s a real normal guy, a great coach," he said, via On3. "Georgia, the takeaway from practice there, is that they have athletes all over the field, especially on the defensive line. They have some studs and it shows; they had 15 players drafted. Athens is probably the best college town I’ve ever been to. The coaches are all good people, they know how to win, know what it takes, and it was cool seeing that.”

He’s soooooooo right. In fact had the luxury to visit many in my day, in fact all of the new expanded SEC 16 with the exception being Missouri. Without a doubt my 1A and 1B are Austin and Athens. They’re just really cool tbh

The town may be great. Been to a few games in Athens. I would not rate the game day atmosphere in the top 6 in the SEC. Terrain makes it hard to have large clusters of tail gating. I was expecting more and came away unimpressed. I’d say it was underwhelming and overrated.
