Definitely progressed faster. But he was already better and more prepared going into college.

It’s tough to say given that TL got a lot of premium snaps early on in the season but he certainly made the most of his time. He seems to have it going on between the ears which is what is needed to play championship football as a QB.

Fields didn’t do himself any favors by playing one-and-run with his progressions.

Kirby should've beaten that out of him by February. JF is the poster child for derecruitment.

Dabo is an offensive guy. Makes sense for Lawrence to progress quicker. Also Lawrence might have just been better in high school

Fromm throws interceptions and he losses fumbles. Fields has never turned the ball over.

Fromm was the riskier option. Fromm is a sitting duck against a good rush. Kirby threw away the future. RIP

This. Lawrence started all four years in high school in a passing offense. Fields started what, 2 seasons in high school. Having said that, Fields didn't play enough, certainly not against any credible opponent to know what he can do. That's the frustrating part. If Fields is the starter for OSU, we'll find out what he can do.

Please tell me this is parody

Over the past two seasons, Fromm has thrown 54 TDs to just 13 INTs (4 TDs per INT, 46 attempts per INT and 11 attempts per TD). By way of comparison, Drew Lock is a guaranteed high draft pick and he averaged just 3.4 TDs per INT and averaged fewer attempts (40) per INT and more attempts (12) per TD than Fromm.

Also, Fromm's fumbles were mostly strip-sacks if I recall and few were actually lost, which can happen to even the best QBs. BTW, Fields had a fumble against Tennessee and was fortunate to get the ball back.

It’s almost like finishing top 3 in regular season QB efficiency isn’t good enough....

Apparently it isn't. We lost 3 games. Back to Lawrence. He did not beat out Kelly Bryant. Bryant saved Clemson's season against A&M. However, Dabo saw the future in Clemson football and pulled the trigger. He said so himself multiple times even last night.

Are you really gonna compare Kelly Bryant to Jake Fromm?

Lawrence came into college as a better, more polished passer. He played for a HS that actually developed him as a player. Fromm was ready to run an offense out of HS, as well, he just doesn’t have the arm talent that Lawrence has. Lawrence may very well end up being one of the best QBs to ever play CFB when it’s all said and done.

And whoever drafts him is going to be sorely disappointed and will draft him on arm strength alone

Of course he did. Fields practiced right alongside Fromm for a year and never impressed Smart and Chaney enough to get much PT. They evaluate these players every day, we just see them on Sats. Eason/Fromm proved that the coaching staff is willing to give anyone a shot that steps up. Fields didn't, and I'm not sure he will at TOSU.

I agree with that

I did read that Fields has more true freshman pass attempts than Tim Tebow. How many more attempts would he have earned if he didn't tuck the ball so much?

Why not? He took his team to the playoffs his first year as a starter and his overall production exceeded Fromms.

Glad to see we’ve gotten to the point in the thread where people just make stuff up.
