Jackson will be the better player, period. An elite OL recruit would be preferred but I'm not sure Shep is elite.

I think the other question is if Evans doesn’t have the grades to enroll immediately and it’s going to drag into the summer, do you take Shepherd/Jackson if Jackson wants in. I say yes, because I don’t think Evans is the type of kid you can depend on showing up in 7 months even if he says he’s committed. Not an easy decision though.

What? Where are you hearing this stuff from?

Evans will go to LSU, destroy their locker room, transfer to t.u., destroy their locker room, and end his career at Houston.

I'm hearing from a source close to North Shore. And the main problem is that our staff has been locked into Shephard and Jackson for weeks now, ever since signing day when Evans went off the board. I'm uncertain where Evans is going to fall in that if he isn't an EE candidate. There may be some kind of magic that will get all three, but I'm not aware of it.
I don't think many here understand just how confident A&M appears to be on Jackson ...

Here comes math.
The 2017 class had 28 signees, 9 of whom enrolled early. 7 of them counted towards 2016, leaving 4 open.
The rules about back counting changed for 2018 allowing only 2 to count back.
We signed 23 in 2018, 2 of whom enrolled early, leaving 4 available for 2018. Cordarrian Richardson's transfer took one of those spots, leaving 3.
We signed 26 in 2019, 8 of whom enrolled early, 2 counted towards 2018, leaving 24 for 2019.
We signed 23 in 2020, 1 counting towards 2019 (Mowry), leaving 22 for 2020.
By that math, we should have 3 available slots unless we expect Phillips to sign, which leaves 2.

Phillips isn't going to sign ...

I’d definitely take Jackson over Evans. Not sure on Shep. I think we need OL pretty badly but RB is also not looking rosy either.

If we assume Evans is 100% in and ready to play then he's the #1 option based on depth. But I find it hard to assume anything with Evans.

I thought we signed 27 in 2019. Did you include the Aussie punter?
Is blueshirting no longer a thing? Since Shep will have to sit a year, this seems the only possible way to take all 3. My thought is the number is 2, whether we like it or not.

27 includes Constantinou AND Mowry.

Liucci just re-iterated it is two. My guess is we are taking Shephard if he qualifies, and one of the other two. Evans if he is EE, and Jackson if he isn't.
But I think this staff has already given Shephard it's word, and Fisher is big on that

-A lot of you have been wondering what's left to add in January and what the Ags' options are. I checked again last night just to be sure and the Aggies are still working with just two spots for 'initial counters' this year so it really doesn't appear there is wiggle room. As for options, we're still looking at these possibles:
Zach Evans
Javonne Shepherd
McKinnley Jackson
A running back if you don't land Evans
Grad transfer
So not a lot to say that Brauny already didn't regarding Evans because I believe he posted a combination of our notes last night. Though nothing has been 'officially' verified by this outlet or any other, everything I've heard since the early signing period is that Zach inked his LOI with Georgia. A lot has gone on behind the scenes since then (on the Evans/UGA side since teams like A&M, LSU and even OU have been unable to contact the five-star back since he's signed) and the word out of Athens the past few days has been that Kirby Smart and the Dawgs intend to release Zach - either from his LOI or period since technically they may have never submitted it. If that happens - and we're hearing that could occur as early as today - then Evans is once again available and can choose to play anywhere. At this point, I think A&M could safely be considered the favorite to land the state's best back, though we've seen several times now that anything can and probably will happen during this particularly wild recruitment.
If Evans is able to have things in order enough to be a mid-term enrollee (which is still a possibility though not talked about of late), then I'd go so far as to say I'd be shocked if the North Shore runner was NOT on campus in College Station in the next 7-10 days.
Hearing that we should have a much clearer picture of Javonne's situation this week and at least one source told me over the past couple of days that the word on the street is that the big offensive tackle is looking more and more likely to be able to transfer into a P5 program this month without having to take the Junior College detour. If that's the case, he's still very much a take for the Ags.
-Weekend rumors of Texas pursuing defensive tackles coach Elijah Robinson were accurate but he's going to remain with Jimbo Fisher in Aggieland, which is a very good thing for multiple reasons...the biggest of which have to do with Robinson being an elite recruiter and an excellent coach. He's the type of guy you fight with everything you have to hold on to.
-Finally, I'm hearing that the possibility that Jimbo Fisher will 'make the station lit again' is very real but I've also confirmed that - as of last night - that was not yet a done deal. With that said, I would expect things done on the tight end front in fairly short order (as in this week), one way or the other.

Whatever does this even mean?

Tim Brewster is coming back

Brewster is more than likely returning to coach tight ends. "The station is lit" is a phrase he liked to use on Twitter

And both Liucci and Wiltfong said they expect Evans on campus within the next 1-2 weeks

if wiltfong is to be believed on evans, that means its coming down to jackson and shep. guess we will keep the spot for whomever we feel more confident on

If I was Jimbo, I'd just take the first two that either sign a LOI, are admitted, or show up at A&M in a week and be done with it. Whoever they are.
You can't believe a damn thing this Evans headcase says. I don't know if it's him or the people around him. It just feels to me like there is always gonna be something with this guy. Being recruited must have completely gone to his head.
His team couldn't even count on him to play in the state championship game. Let that sink in. What kind of teammate would pull a stunt like that? I wouldn't turn away Shepherd and Jackson based on what this joker told me. You can't trust him to show up, no matter what he says.
