We are razor thin at running back. He has us at a disadvantage in that we need him far more than he needs us.

It means we're old and don't have a clue what the young kids are into nowadays.

But looking at crucial needs, I think fixing our OL should take precedence over RB. After all, a good line can make any RB look good if they can block.
If I'm Jimbo, I'm telling Evans I've moved on.

And a great RB can hide the deficiencies of an average OL and even though everyone hates to admit it here, Evans is a great RB.

people are weirdly romanticizing shepherd right now. he was an overweight senior who had character red flags of his own, hasnt played in a game in god knows how long, and wont be available next year. hes a lottery ticket. one at a position of need, but a lottery ticket nonetheless. evans comes in and is immediately 1B to demas' 1A as best players in our program and fills another position of need. im taking evans before i take shepherd personally

Evans and Jackson, if I could choose two and only two.

and the people who are romanticizing him are the same people who were making fun of tu for signing him saying that he will never play a down for them because he’s lazy and out of shape. Guess what, if he comes here, there’s still no guarantee that he will ever play for us whereas Evans would be the day 1 no. 1 RB.

Well, that’s too strong.

where it gets tricky is the timing of everything. if evans cant enroll within the next week, you cant hold a spot for him. but you can no way justify turning him down right now if he can enroll and start classes next week for fricking shepherd

But he would be, he’s way too talented for Spiller to beat him out.

He would be by far the most talented all around back on the roster. Sure he would have to “earn it” and all that but he would be the heavy favorite to start at RB week 1 next year

Most Freshman RBs struggle with pass protection, no matter how good they are as a natural runner. Evans would have to demonstrate pass protection skills to be an every down RB. If he shows up, I suspect he would have a limited role at first.
Nothing wrong with that. I expect Achane to play next year. Due to his size, we may not really try to use him in pass protection. So that will limit his usage, too.

i feel very confident in him being the day one starter. hes too transcendent as a runner

Another RB name just came up. Supposed to OV Jan 17th. Sounds like LSU is also showing some interest in him, so a back up plan for whoever gets Evans.

Good. We could easily go 3 for 3 and have an issue on who to drop. Or we could go 0 for 3. Having a backup plan makes a ton on sense to me. This is so different than Sumlin, gotta recruit until the very end.

Don’t think you’ll need a back up plan here.

We will if he can’t get his shot in order and in classes this semester.

Jackson & Zach Evans both going to A&M
