Arkansas should be winning. They have a lot of advantages
They have a pretty campus in a scenic area.
The talent pool is shallow and the best likely don't want to stay.
It seems like their administration doesn't give a flying rat's arse although there seems to be passion for basketball because Calipari has an expensive roster. Then again that's a small group compared to the amount of cash you need to build a football team.
Arkansas had a wonderful tradition but most kids aren't aware of it.
I have no particular fondness for the Hogs but I wish they could return to some modicum of their prior success.

Arkansas is under the curse of the Clintons. There’s no other explanation for it.

The resources are average. Stadium is small for the SEC.
There is a severe lack of in-state talent. Always has been.
The fans in Central Arkansas (Little Rock population base) feel alienated. Long story.
They can't recruit Texas or north Louisiana as they once did.
And my understanding is many in charge at Walmart are not Arkansas grads. They give money to the program, but their main loyalty is elsewhere.
Apathy is very real in Arkansas right now.
Their time in the SEC is overwhelmingly forgettable. Long-term failure breeds hopelessness.

They don’t have resources. Walmart doesn’t contribute to the football team and I don’t believe Tyson does either. Whether Jerry does or not I’m not sure, but it’s not obvious or very public. They use to get amazing talent from themSt. Louis and Dallas areas, but when the SEC let in A&M and Mizzou those recruiting areas dried up. They tried expanding recruiting further into Texas and Oklahoma, Memphis. But then the SEC brought in UT and OU and that dried up the recruiting even further. Fayetteville is a wonderful little college town, much nicer and friendlier than BR ever will be, but it’s in the middle of nothing. St. Louis is hours away, LR is hours away. I guess there’s Branson. And let’s be honest, Arkansas doesn’t get any of the free press that LSU does. Even when LSU is shite people talk about them like they’re a top 10 programme and are surprised when they lose 4 games. They’re not. They are a shiny quarter that comes up heads every 10 years. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for Arkansas to be that same shiny quarter, but the SEC and geography, along with indifference have doomed the programme into mediocrity where a 10 win season will look like a NC. I miss the days when the LSU game would come down to which team had the ball last. Or, when you knew you were going to lose to Bama but the game was competitive going into the 4th quarter. I miss those days, but they’re not coming back soon.

[Because the are an SWC team. Not SEC caliber.]
Tell me you’re new to SEC football without telling me you’re new to SEC football. This is an ignorant statement and you should go back and look at Arkansas's record prior to the last 8 years or so.

Small state with low population. Terrible in state football talent and too far from fertile recruiting grounds to attract decent talent. Arkansas had a pipeline to Texas, but they ended once A&M joined the SEC.
Literally none of that matters in the NIL era. You guys have several billionaires that live within 30 minutes of the campus. It's obviously a BOT/Admin issue.

I am old enough to remember Arkansas when they were in the SWC and they were a perennial contender. They have been very hit or miss in the SEC with a whole lot more miss in recent years. Really since they fired Petrino, which they honestly had no other option after he lied his arse off. I wish they would at least get back to a level of a middle of the road team. As it is they are the SEC bottom feeder.

I assume that you're trying to be amusing because Clintons have been gone from Arkansas since 1992.
You now have a clown as a Governor.
I have no idea why so many threads on sports are turned into political bullshite.

Arkansas got cut off from the DFW recruiting market when they left the SWC and haven't been able to rebuild that pipeline. Had they stuck around and joined the Big 12 with half the SWC teams they'd have been a lot better off.
This explanation made sense in 2007 but things have changed since then.
Those were the years when they were a respectable team in conference.

So LSU gets lucky every 10 years? Hmm. Somebody is in denial.

A bunch of people here don’t know shite about what is going on in Arkansas. The real reason is NIL and the BOT, AD and Chancellor inability to adjust to this new era of football. They all need to be replaced.

They aren't getting the money to spend despite having several billionaire alums

Not that that matters as much in the age of nil

The big well funded high schools are in the northwest, where there are not many black people. The athletes are in Little Rock (but not as many as its size would have you expect) and the southeast part of the state. That is also the farthest away from the school. There are a lot of places in east Arkansas closer to the 2 Mississippi schools/

We have a top 25 NIL but bottom 25 NIL talent. We have been so shittly for so long that we are forced to overpay for what talent we do get. The best way to overcome that is through superior talent evaluations and get a coach players believe in. Instead we hired Pittman who was a career OL coach and Silverfield who with the largest budget in his conference couldn’t finish in the top 2.

They are so bad this year that for the LSU game they are replacing the Golden Boot Trophy with a boot that one of their fans took off and threw onto the field after their offense went 3 and out for the 50th time in a row.

Somebody has to suck. Why not us, lil ole Arkansas? You're welcome SEC for us being your slump buster.

One of those billionaires bought the best franchise in the NFL and turned it into a perennial loser for the last 3 decades.
I see a pattern here.
