Three things that at least make me somewhat optimistic about Howard:

-- Scott Loeffler used his TEs a ton at Temple lst year.
-- Lutzenchirchen will be the best TE in the SEC next year and one of the best in the country.
-- Says he grew up an Auburn fan.

If Howard is as open minded as his interviews suggest, we definitely have a shot... but that remains to be seen in a town like prattville.

Which is why they need an early signing period at the end of the summer before the season starts.

That way, the coaches at least have a heads up about which commitments are completely meaningless.

I'm an advocate of an early signing period. I wish they would implement this.

Those are good reasons to be optimistic.

The con i can think of is Auburn is (at least off the top of my head) seemingly more deep at TE. 2012 5 starish Ricky Parks and a potential diamond in rough Hutcherson. Plus 2 4 stars in 2011 with Fulse and Uzomah.

Compared to Bama who has 2011Faciane who we dont know much of at this point and Freitage who is built more for overpowering the defense rather then using his athleticism. Plus we use multiple TE sets so we need a lot of them.

OJ is solid, he will flirt, but Bama will still be using their TE's a LOT more than most people realize and he is a different type of talent than we have had at TE, Coaches have sold him on such

Chris Gragg, the #1 NFL TE draft prospect for 2013 will have something to say about this.

Lutz is way better overall TE, but you are right since Arkansas uses the TE a shite ton or they did 2 years ago with DJ I think right?

I'm surprised Arky isn't after OJ he would fit Petrino system perfectly

I agree that Parks is the same kinda player as Howard... we'll see who is actually more athletic. Both have issues they'll need to overcome in order to contribute -- Howard is playing against terrible competition, and Parks was a high school QB.

I hope hutchinson can make it into school... someone mentioned a couple weeks ago he was a grade risk.

Lutz is out for spring after having shoulder surgery... it's gonna be an important spring for the younger TEs to show what they can do... Loeffler is gonna use a ton of 2 TE sets, I believe.

Isn't he the one Honey Badger stripped of the ball and returned it about 40 yards before being tackled?

Mitch Conner just named LSU his leader.

Fwiw Saint... He threw for 51 TD's and 4100 yards last year.

Sounds ok to me I guess...
