Will there be an SEC in 2035?

Or will it be 40 team league?

If they asked, you don’t decline ND. They’re a big program, overrated yes, but they carry weight.

I feel like the good old days are long gone and are never coming back.

I feel like it’s better to just embrace the change and get to the end goal as quickly as possible so we can get out from this in between model we’ve been living in.

Two leagues of 24 teams. NFL type model with playoffs based on results (no committees). And as long as everyone gets to keep their 2-3 biggest rivals annually, this model will be the best for the game.

Notre Dame has a nest on the ground when it comes to football. Tv contract and plenty of money backing them.

The only reason I could see them changing is if quality teams quit scheduling them, which ain’t going to happen because they bring in attention and money.

They just don’t seem to fit.

Can't believe I agree with an Alabama fan, but he's right. Texes and Oklahoma are driving two teams to below average in some sports. Adding more good teams drives more teams to below average in some sports.

FYI

This is a horrible place to ask a question like this. The opinion of the people who post here doesn't match what fans in real life think.

Every conference would want Notre Dame travel headaches be damned.

Sure. The Big 10 and ACC are pretty strong academically.

The SEC could use another strong academic school to go along with Texas, Florida, and Vanderbilt.

I get that logic, and part of me wants to buy-in to what feels like is inevitable anyway,……

But then I remember,…..games that may be obscure to many, but are deeply woven into the SEC and treasures for fans that were there, or watching on TV, or listening on the radio…..

Auburn vs Florida , listening on the radio as Kerwin Bell stole that game
Miss St vs Alabama , Mardye McDole taking it to Bama
Auburn vs LSU , four interceptions (LSU fans know what game this is…)
Auburn vs Miss St in Starkville, I NEVER can recall an easy game there, Cam had to catch a TD for us to win one there
And on and on and on

Yes. They're the only team that would carry enough value for me to think the SEC expanding again would be a good idea. None of the other teams outside the SEC and Big 10 carry enough interest (including FSU or Clemson).

For the love of Beano Cook, who would not want to go to South Bend, tour the campus on a crisp fall day, and watch their team play in Notre Dame stadium with Touchdown Jesus right there? I mean Rudy was filmed there, people.
