Got to be a step up from Crean. He only won 15 SEC games in 4 seasons.

Seems like the Will Muschamp scenario all over again, they hired a guy that already proved he can’t win in this league but at a worse program.

We were last in the conference last year and we are 10th this year. If he makes similar progress next year we will be happy, but not satisfied. It's progress and might take longer than one year.

UGA being so historically bad in basketball is so weird. Georgia and specifically Atlanta is usually loaded with talent. They had a good run with Hugh Durham in the 80’s, but haven’t done a whole lot since then.

He made the tourney in 5 of 7 seasons at UF. We’ve gone to the tourney 3 times in 20 years. Hopefully he can just get us back to below average, as we are currently abysmal.

And UF has won national titles and thought White was not good enough. UF is not a "worse program" than UGA in basketball by any stretch of the imagination.

It took Bruce awhile to build from the bottom. Year 4 to be a good team and win the conference. Expectations when Bruce was hired was to be a consistent tournament team. Now going 10-8 in conference is a down year.

I believe White could be a decent coach and build.

Tubby Smith leaving was a huge blow. We were on our way, and UK pulled the rug out from under us. Then we were on our way again with Jim Harrick and the rug got pulled again. Haven't had a decent coach since.

Yeah, Harrick’s own son pulled the rug out from under him. That was a mess, and maybe should have been expected after his issues at UCLA.

Losing Tubby was a huge blow. Didn’t he get y’all to the Sweet 16?

He'll have them on the bubble most years. Build a solid talent level and eventually make the job more attractive for a better coach.

In his first year, White has improved the team by 10 wins.

I'll take that.

Last night on the Southern Hoops documentary Tubby said that Dooley flat out told him he could win a national title at Kentucky and probably couldn't at Georgia and he should take the Kentucky job if he wanted it.

The 2 programs are night and day.

Dooley wasn't wrong in that comparison.

He is incorrect implying that UGA could never win a national championship. But we were two teams on completely different levels with Kentucky at the time.

Absolutely. It was admirable, IMHO. He was just being honest with Tubby and didn't want him to feel bad about making a move almost anyone would make (knowing Tubby was also a good man with a good heart). But that's exactly who Dooley was.

Stability. IMO, White's job is to make this job more appealing when it comes open again.

Miles won a national championship, not a good comparison. White never won shite.

What had Bret Bielema, Same Pittman, Chad Morris or Bobby Petrino won before Arkansas? (I could go on, but what's the point?)

Strange question.

Exactly this. Improvement is improvement. We don't expect him to be on Bruce Pearl's level, but we want improvement. And that takes time.

We hired Les miles as a football coach if that helps you

You hired him after he was successful at Oklahoma State. He better equivalent example would be if you had hired Mike Shula instead.

UGA was 6-26 last season with 1 conference win. They were 16-15 this year with 6 conference wins overhauling the entire team and chicken pecking out of the transfer portal. It was pretty good all things considered.

Yes UGA should be much better, but you gotta start somewhere.

Also, Florida was 16-15 this year.
