We also no definitively by the same logic Alabama would never beat Texas A&M

Up 7-0 Richt richted and put Freshman DJ Shockley in cold for no reason when Greene was doing fine and Shockley promptly threw a pick 6 and it changed the entire dynamic of that game.
Made up for it by Michael Johnson pulling that pass out of his arse on 4th down in the 4th quarter at JH to clinch the East. Auburn wasn’t a great team that year but they outplayed us that day.
“Boy we’ve had some chances haven’t we”….is one of Munson’s best calls ever.

2002 Florida…that Miami nor OSU team were particularly great….Miami had lost much of the 01 team to the NFL and the Maurice Clarett led OSU is the worst NC team of the last 30 years. UGA would have had a great shot to win that game.
Not to mention we could have won this and still got Kirby.
I don’t think that happens if we win in 2012.

re: Kirby can’t be considered great until he can beat Saban in the SEC championship game
Posted by Pulpwood Patterson on 11/22/23 at 2:00 pm
Saban will pass on to glory with a losing record to Tubberville, Spurrier, Barry Alvarez, Lloyd Carr, Hayden Fry, Tom Osborne, and Joe Tiller. Does that really affect his legacy? Heck no, he’s the GOAT.
At 47 years old, Kirby has a better career winning percentage than Saban (.860 to .803). He’s won 2 NC, and has another 4 years to win his 3rd or more before the age that Saban won his first.
For all the bluster of the muh hurt WR, AL was a lot closer to losing to UGA in 17 & 18 than they were to beating UGA in Indy….which would have Saban’s record against Smart at 2-3…AND this all occurred in the apex of Saban’s run.
Saban’s legacy is established and untarnished. AND it’s simultaneously disingenuous to suggest, Smart has anything to prove.

A bust? Dude is 19-7
He took over a team akin to this year’s Auburn team and won 10 games, won the SECW, and may win 10 games again this year.
He’s 4-2 against LSU’s 3 biggest rivals (arguably AL, OM, FL)
That’s not a bust…it may not be Larry Coker’s start at Miami but it’s pretty darn good.

Yes sir
re: I get so tired of hearing about how great the Michigan and OSU rivalry is.

I judge a rivalry by its level of singular obsessive hate.
There are Auburn fans that hate UGA more than Bama, there are Bama fans that hate TN worse than Auburn.
There are GA fans(albeit old ones) that hate GT more than Florida and UF fans that hate FSU worst than Georgia.
There are no Buckeyes who hate anyone worse than Michigan and Michigan may have a halfway rivalry with Sparty and ND…but they haaaaaate Ohio State.
The only other two that meet that level of undistracted hate are Miss/Miss State and SC/Clemson.

I’m never one to doubt the dark arts of Shug Boogie Stadium. They got on us this year as Johnny Cash once said …”kicking and a gouging in the mud, the blood, and the beer”. But this Alabama team is real good and well coached and Auburn needs a few more players.

Hopefully there are no Techie’s here to see this…but Key is a good man and a good coach. And he’s going to have them moving in the right direction soon.
That being said, obligatory: “Tech Lies, Tech Cheats”.

re: Kirby: Georgia's defense is hurting Carson Beck's Heisman chances
Posted by Pulpwood Patterson on 11/19/23 at 12:39 pm
Kirby’s point is valid. That being said I don’t know the BK is to be criticized for needing JH to win or even if he’s trying to help him win the award. Shouldn’t a coach be an advocate for his players?
re: Finally figured what separates two elite football programs, Ga and Alabama, did you?

And I’m sure we were trying to take out AJM… no excuses man.
re: Read it and weep all you LSU hating bama fans!

He had the best year…it shouldn’t be controversial. Maybe it will be who knows.
re: Alabama has a better defense, had a tougher schedule & Ga’s grossly underestimating Milroe
Posted by Pulpwood Patterson on 11/16/23 at 6:43 pm
Statistically Alabama doesn’t have a better defense. Practically…who knows.
The spread is going to be inside 4 points, I dont know that either GA or AL fans should have too much bravado.

“Didn’t a drunk Georgia fan…” can be applied confidently to most every kind of deviancy…we’ve got some lushes now. We’re not far behind LSU and Wisconsin for functioning alcoholics.
re: Aggies actually think great coaches want to come there

They can buy good players, they need a guy who can develop them and formulate a quality offensive and defensive identity. It’s that simple.
re: Does all the SEC think Jayden should win the Heisman?
Posted by Pulpwood Patterson on 11/14/23 at 3:16 pm
I don’t know because they don’t know. There’s no objective consistent metric for the award. I can say that If you take him off that Team, LSU prob wins 3-4 games so clearly he’s hugely impactful.
