Why are the Longhorns so desperate to play A&M?

Answer that question, and you'll begin to see why we haven't responded to the pleads for us to put them on our schedule.

LSU wants attention. They're mad we're talking about Bama this week.

I’ve seen y’all talk more about LSU this week than Bama.

I think it's a "punishment" thing. A&M got into the SEC so their revenue was going to go up...and it happened...They in turn didn't need Texas and if they played them they gave them a large SEC stage to play on. I think it was a smart move to refuse to play them...It's totally a\'advantage A&M' !

The only LSU-related post I’ve made this week was to compliment your head coach and state that I’ve always been a fan of his.

Butthurt kansas refuses to play Mizzou. We've approached them several times.

kansas and texass...two baby peas-in-a-bod.

I guess we'll just have to measure with how many ranked teams each one has beaten.

Texas - 1
A&M - 0

What ranked team did they beat?

Scared? Of a perennial 6-6 (at best) program? Texas needs it waaay more than A&M. Simple answer to your question.

The reason we aren't playing them isn't due to scheduling, if we wanted to play them we could make it happen in about 10 minutes. We don't want to play them because of recruiting, they play in a garbage conference and get little national attention. They desperately need a game that matters, especially to Texas high school football players. If A&M played the game they would have everything to lose almost nothing to gain, so we have decided not to play. You could say that we're scared and that might be partially true because a loss to them would hurt, it would not only be a loss on the field but it would be a huge gain for Texas even if they lose the game.

I just want them to play because

1: college football is at its best when rivals are playing
2: Texas A&M is getting pretty big for their britches and acting high and mighty even though they have no football success to warrant that since joining the SEC.

Playing Texas would overide all that. Plus maybe it would divert some of their constant yapping west instead of at LSU all the time.

Money, nostalgia, prime time, competition, entertainment, interest, bragging rights.. the game provides that in spades. It would be a marquee matchup every year if not the biggest game of the week.

Few programs have that at their disposal & that’s hard to pass up.

As it relates to A&M, I’d point out the benefits y’all have received by joining the SEC. By simply moving to the SEC & without any measurable on the field success much different than you had in the B12, the A&M brand has grown significantly.

This matchup would only add to that. I’ve been on the “who cares” bus as well since 2011, but I can’t deny that adding this matchup has big upside and few if any deterants.

That's why I said "look at it clinically". Bottom line. No feels.

It would be an awesome game and I'd look forward to it every year, but how would it improve the bottom line for A&M?

Let's also not forget that the toxicity of that program led to not one, not two, not three, but four power 5 programs leaving the conference. That's insane.

Why is it so bad to let them wallow in their self-created misery?
