re: Mizzou hires Michigan OC, Chip Lindsey.

Per Cody G. with PowerMizzou.com:
Chip Lindsey, like Drinkwitz, is a Gus Malzahn disciple.
Drinkwitz has often credited Gus Malzahn as a key influence throughout his coaching life. He worked with Malzahn at Springdale High School in Arkansas in 2004, at Auburn in 2010, and again at Arkansas State in 2012-13.
Lindsey also has a history of working for Malzahn. He was an offensive analyst for Malzahn at Auburn in 2013, when the Tigers went 12-2, beat Mizzou in the SEC Championship Game, and lost to Florida State in the national title game. He was Auburn's offensive coordinator under Malzahn in 2017-18. The Tigers went 10-4 and played in both the SEC title game and the Peach Bowl during that 2017 season.
After his three years at Troy, Lindsey reunited with Malzahn at UCF in 2022. He was again Malzahn's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, though he did not call plays that season. He helped UCF reach the AAC Championship game, and the Knights ranked 16th nationally in total offense and 26th nationally in scoring offense.
He has coached in the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, the old Pac-12.
Lindsey's coaching career began as a longtime high-school coach in Alabama, where he coached at Springville, Sparkman, Deshler, Colbert Heights, Spanish Park, and even under Rush Probst at Hoover in 2007 — the same Hoover that was featured on MTV's Two-A-Days. His ties to Alabama are largely why he left Kansas to coach at Troy.
But Lindsey also has tons of experience coaching major college football, including the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, and the old Pac-12.
He coached with Malzahn at Auburn. He was Arizona State's OC in 2016, when the Sun Devils averaged 33.3 points per game. He was North Carolina's OC in 2023-24 under Mack Brown and helped Drake Maye become the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Lindsey was most recently Michigan's offensive coordinator, where he coached with Bryce Underwood, who was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class.
Lindsey has a history of coaching and developing NFL quarterbacks.
Throughout his coaching career, Lindsey has developed NFL quarterbacks. Maye is obviously the big name, but he also worked with Jarrett Stidham while Auburn's OC in 2017-18 as well as Nick Mullens as Southern Mississippi's OC in 2014-15.
In fact, Maye called former Michigan coach Sherrone Moore to vouch for Lindsey when he interviewed to be Michigan's OC before this last season:
"(Drake said) he felt that he progressed more in his career in that year with Chip than he did at any point in his career," Moore said after hiring Lindsey to be Michigan's offensive coordinator, a year ago this month.
"Really felt like without him he wouldn't have got the chance to go so high in the Draft."
That's probably good news for Matt Zollers, a former 4-star, Top-100 prospect who will be Mizzou's starting quarterback in the bowl game and who Drinkwitz has called the future of the Missouri program throughout his true freshman season.

I think Missouri can do it.
1. Yes, but can OC Kirby Moore do it???
It will take a big change on his part or Drink making him change call playing. Will Drink veto poor play calls going forward???
Moore wasted Luther last year. He's wasting a great WR room this year. And if I'm Hardy/Roberts I'd be wondering why we don't run more in conference games.
2. OL play. This game will come down to how well this group plays.
3. Can DBs cover and keep the big plays in front of them? NO broken coverages...limit the big plays!

Weak leadership has been a Mizzou tradition.
The absolute worse...Chancellor Barbara Uehling 1978-1987 was a TOTAL DISASTER to all Mizzou athletic programs. She hated sports and cut, cut, cut budgets. It has taken at least TWO DECADES to recover from her budget ax. Campus beautification was one of her important programs. She also wanted Mizzou to be the "Harvard of the Midwest" and academic performance did improve. All kinds of stories...coaches had to beg for money just to go on a recruiting trip. All athletic facilities fell behind the competition.
In the 60s and 70s Mizzou was just cheap. We let Frank Broyles walk for a few thousand bucks to arky. We let Dan Devine walk because we were cheap. Never underestimate just how cheap the German people (not all) can be. Most of that generation have passed on. We are a wealthy state and now the money is flowing.
Mizzou has had some decent head coaches. What Mizzou has really lacked...SEC (Power 5) level leadership above the head coaching level. Programs and coaches needed this support but rarely got it. I believe we are much better now than in the past.

Screw you. The Stars and Bars has a star for Missourah.
Here is just one CSA unit from Missourah. There are many others. Being a boarder state, we fought each other.
The 9th Missouri Sharpshooter Battalion, also known as Pindall's Missouri Sharpshooter Battalion, was a unit that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The battalion was formed in late 1862, in compliance with an earlier authorization by the Confederate States Congress for each brigade to have an associated battalion of sharpshooters.
Now do Knoxville and Florida.

4-Star linebacker JJ Bush commits to Missouri
The four-star prospect chose committed to arky over Mizzou and LSU on July 2nd after taking official visits to all three schools. But after the razorbacks fired Sam Pittman, Bush reopened his recruitment. He chose the Tigers this time around. Baylor, Boston College, Florida, Michigan,
and Ole Miss were other notable offers on his resume.

Remember, this was a 61-6 victory was against Central Arky which is probably the best team in that state.
Good but early:
Pribula but lost some QB depth behind him.
Linebackers are solid.
Wide receivers are exceptional! I didn't see a drop all day.
RBs.
So-so but early:
Defensive Line - should be a strength.
Secondary - I expect good things but we'll see.
Offensive Line - Was only so-so. Lets see what they do against USCe on the 20th.
Bad but early:
The injuries at QB and kicker.
TBD:
Special teams - lost our kicker to injury for season. There is depth but unproven.

R-kansas never recovered from that azz-beatin' in the 2008 Cotton Bowl losing 38-7. Mizzou's Tony Temple just scored another TD for the Cotton Bowl rushing record (still stands).
Darren McFadden frickin' WHO??? Here comes the "no coach" baby excuse, I guarantee. McFadden had one lonely trash TD when the game was over.
Mizzou broke 'em, bent 'em over and finished the dirty in front of the world.
