God I hate the corporate BS in that release. Just say what you mean. There’s so much sugar coating jn there and buzzwords hoping the employees don’t realize they’re being stifled because they’re getting too annoying with their choices

might have asbestos. As long as you don't frick with it then you're good. You can have it tested and remediated (if it tests positive) for probably 5 to 10k if you're really worried about it.

I don’t want to buy a house that needs 10k in asbestos remediation  we also need to demo a lot of things in the ceiling that are hanging as well as add new electrical outlets. Plus we have equipment over the ceiling that could leak one day and cause issues.

Not disturbing the ceiling will be an issue.

Asbestos Ceilings

So I’m closing on a home on Friday and it has popcorn ceilings and was built in 1970. My wife brought up today that popcorn ceilings are usually made of asbestos if they’re that old and if we should be worried about that. I almost fell out of bed. I’m fully aware of asbestos and how it can be in insulation and floor tiling but I honestly had no idea about the ceilings. I know it’s supposedly safe unless you disturb it but I really don’t want to take that chance. We’ve already signed away our inspection contingency as I didn’t think asbestos was an issue this late in the 20th century.

What was even more shocking is my wife had no idea asbestos was bad at all. I feel dumb for not knowing the extents of its use but I did know that asbestos is the reason many buildings are condemned. If I have this rosebud/popcorn ceiling in my 1970 house is it 100% asbestos and am I fricked?
Was still awesome in the theater.

Something the prequels are untouchable on as far as Star Wars is concerned are light saber battles. They have all the best ones. Vader v Luke in ESB and ROTJ are good, but limited by the tech of their time.

The prequels are the Jedi at their peak and we get awesome lightsaber duels out of it. The The originals and sequels don’t have anything as close to like 5 prequel battles.

Duel of the Fates
Obi Wan v Annakin
Dooku v Yoda
Yoda v Palpatine
Palpatine v Windu

Are all better than anything you can find in the other 6 movies.
What happened to her car crash that left her with 4 days to live a month ago?
Is this so golf has some kind of playoffs?

What did they go off of before the fed ex cup?
Hollywood might actually make more money in today’s environment just releasing classics in the theaters rather than spending money to produce new movies that are total shite.
I knew you were dick bag from the masters thread but this just confirms it.
Brother wife and I go tonight!
I basically stopped going to events. Even buying first hand the companies charge outrageous convenience fees on top of the r ticket.

I lost it when LSU got into bed with them years ago and realized they could get a cut of the fees from them. LSU was encouraging me to sell every ticket I bought from them because they got a cut from each transaction. frick the fans.

Not gonna lie, maybe you shouldn’t try this yourself.

What’s the worst that happens? I frick it up out of square and I’m out a few hundred in lumber?

attach the bottom plate to the slab
attach the top plate to whatever the old wall is attached to. Cut your studs to length and insert between the plates at 16” OC. Toenail to the plates top and bottom. Close up

What is the best way to make sure they're as close to perfectly stacked on top of each other as I can? A plumb bob?

How to frame a longer wall

Posted by jlovel7 on 4/24/25 at 10:17 am
Buying a house and we need to have the furred out basement wall demo'd for a structural repair. To save on costs, I plan to reframe the back wall myself. It is quite long. Probably 30+ feet. Do I just frame 8'-0" segments and then tilt them up and connect them? Then seal over the drywall?

Going to be learning a lot on the fly once we close (hopefully!) on this house.

TIA
I really want the Leo Jonestown movie that’s been rumored.

Just had a big pickleball tournament at our country club. It was a blast. Sorry you’re poor.

Were 2 AA batteries even a drop in the bucket for what they needed? Or even convertible to use with the ship?

The way people on TV talk about The Masters has become too reverent and too precious for me, and the full on glaze that Nantz has for Augusta makes me hate it (even though I bet it is an awesome experience in-person).

I disagree. That place is still somehow underrated. It is by far the best experience in sports. Nothing about that place is anything below top notch.

I think about this when I have to take a piss in a trough at a big LSU game

Anybody had a foundation carbon taped?

Posted by jlovel7 on 4/21/25 at 9:17 pm
Looking at this house and foundation company recommended it. Found 1/2” of deflection on about 7’ of wall. There’s horizontal cracking with some stair stepping. Recommended carbon taping for about $16k and said that should stop anymore bowing for the life of the structure.

On a side note, I thought it was funny that JT's wife was by his side for the post round interview with Amanda Balionis. Wanted to make sure that homewrecker didn't try to seduce her husband

What’s the story here?
