ND and its corrupt deal with the CFP
I completely forgot about this, but during the summer the Big 10 wanted the CFP to grant a minimum of 7 Big Ten teams, far more than any other conference, a bid in the CFP. I wonder if Riley was behind that and is pissed that it never went anywhere.

USC is B1G now, and the B1G's primary objective is to force Notre Dame to buckle under and join them. This is just another play in that standoff.

Notre Dame would find itself with no one to play come October
What a glorious shame!!!!

We need mandated 9-game conference schedules with every team playing a minimum 2 Power 4 opponents…. No FCS games allowed.
If all 69 power programs played at least two OOC games against each other it would make judging how good teams actually are much easier between the leagues.

When you go 9 games, which the P2 conferences are doing, the only top notch OOC opponent you want on your radar is your big rival. Clemson/ USC or Georgia/Georgia Tech.
Consider this. Hypothetical late season match up between Alabama and Notre Dame. Alabama has just finished a run of 4 out of the 5 teams they played were ranked. ND played a few bottom feeder teams from the ACC, Navy, and a sacrificial goat or two from the MAC.
Which team is going to be fresher?
Unless Notre Dame can forge some sort of symbiotic relationship with the Big 10 where they get B10 games in the homestretch they might play one team with a pulse down the home stretch. Maybe.
They'll get early season games, plenty of them. But once conference games start I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

They want to get to 20. Who they will add in addition to Notre Dame to get there is another question

When conferences get to 20 I guess they split into two ten team divisions?
Which is pretty much the size of what conferences used to be

You can thank the playoff committee and those that make the playoff rules for that.
