ND and its corrupt deal with the CFP

I completely forgot about this, but during the summer the Big 10 wanted the CFP to grant a minimum of 7 Big Ten teams, far more than any other conference, a bid in the CFP. I wonder if Riley was behind that and is pissed that it never went anywhere.
No one cares. ND is not in the SEC. Take it to the ND board.

My goodness, first the Ohio State people, now the ND people. Stay on your own boards.

I’ve been as hard on ND as anyone, but I don’t blame them for this. Lincoln Riley and the AD apparently wanted out of this series all year.

It’s not surprising given Riley’s past. He left OU because they were set to join the SEC and he’d face tougher teams, and now he drops a team that he is 1-3 against and that USC is 2-8 against in their last 10. With Indiana and Oregon appearing like they’ll make the playoffs yearly, I could see him leaving soon. Apparently he and his agent were looking at other opportunities this year behind the scenes. If Texas Tech ever opened I think he’d leave in a heartbeat because the Big 12 is garbage.

I believe they're 0-5 in playoff games. Maybe they should be banned from the CFP?
The biggest loser is the CFP committee for having rules that allowed for G5 trash to make the playoff.

I should also add, Miami is not really winning because of cristobal. They are winning because they can now pay players.

Cristobal isn’t all that great of an in-game coach, but he is an elite recruiter. Miami was one of the first schools throwing money around after NIL became legal. In his first 2 classes they got a bunch of kids that they really had no business getting, given their on-field performance. Sort of similar to Venables’ 2023 class when OU went 6-7. I live near a highly ranked kid that signed in Mario’s first class. The kid had much better offers than Miami, but he wouldn’t even bother visiting those schools because he only cared about NIL.

I don’t see it. Cristobal isn’t all that good of an in-game coach and he is too reliant on the portal for QB’s. If there is ever a weak portal year for QB, a bad evaluation, or an injury, Miami is screwed. HS QB’s know what they’re doing and that’s why good HS QB’s aren’t signing with them. They also don’t have the pockets Oregon does to basically buy a Dante Moore and stash him on the bench for a year.

A&M was a fraud team. They weren’t all that good. This is also maybe the weakest year in recent memory. There are some good teams, but no team is even close to being elite. Heck, you could make a very good case that last year’s entire Final 4 (Ohio State, ND, Texas, Penn State) would beat every team in this year’s playoff. Last year’s Ohio State team would absolutely destroy this year’s Ohio State team.

You were a product of your schedule.

Not just that, but if the refs didn’t bail them out and let them get away with one of the most blatant holds in recent memory they would’ve been in the Pop Tarts Bowl.
This board is flip flops so much when it comes to ND

ND loses to A&M: "They're good good team! They lost on the last play!"

ND's best win is a 3-loss USC team: "They're not good! They haven't beat anyone!"

ND misses the CFP: "They didn't deserve to be in!"

OU jumps out to a 17-0 lead: "ND should have been in over Bama!"

A&M looks awful in loss to a fraudulent Miami team: "ND should have been in!"

Make up your mind, folks. I've been down voted for 3 months for saying ND isn't good, but at least I've been consistent.

re: Is a&m the worst playoff team ever?

The pile of crap that Penn State beat last year on their way to the semi-final are the worst.
It took South Carolina having an epic collapse and the refs bailing them out in the ND game. What a fraud team.
I can't tell if Reed is one of the worst QB's in the country or he has money on Miami.
Reed is awful. Wide open guy and he underthrows him.

This is some of the worst QB play I’ve seen, don’t get me started on special teams.

All thanks to the refs in the A&M-ND game. If they did their jobs and called a hold on A&M's OL for tackling the ND Defensive Lineman, A&M would've lost. They'd be out of the playoffs and we'd be spared this full abortion of a game. A&M would've had no signature wins, and Vandy probably gets in. Diego would at least provide some excitement. Heck, put ND or Texas in. Love and Arch would at least have a pulse.

bullshite. if one of these teams was Alabama you’d be here bragging on the great defense being played.

You should check the Bama boards. We'd be calling for DeBoer's head.
Total pillow fight. These teams stink.

Keon had a huge impact on the game last night. Why would he leave?

I don’t think he starts next year

Agreed.

Should have never expanded to 16 teams.

Even if they move to 16, they need to get rid of the G5 teams. Unless the G5 team is undefeated and beats some good non-conference teams like Boise State and TCU did back in the day, they shouldn’t be in.

As much as I hate the frickers, probably Notre Dame.

So a team that actually won a CFP game should have been out? Shouldn’t OU have been out in hindsight after last night’s performance and how awful they’ve looked the last few games?
