UGA-UF game may not stay in Jax after 2023; UGA polls its fans on what they want

Should the SEC go with the 1-7 scheduling model, Florida is the runaway winner as the rival most UGA fans would want to keep.
However, keeping the game in Jax is NOT the runaway choice of Dawgs fans...the majority want the game moved to Athens in years when UGA is the designated home team. When UF is the home team, Dawgs fans want Florida to play its game vs. UGA...in Jax. Interesting.
Most UGA fans have made it clear that they prefer the 3-6 scheduling model, however. Having the 3-6 model benefits both UGA & UF and are able to gain a home game that brings them up to par with the rest of the SEC.
But, Pat Dye and Auburn broke their long-standing tradition of playing Alabama in Birmingham in 1989, a tradition that had stood since 1904.
UGA & UF first played in Jacksonville in 1915 and have done so annually since 1933 w/the exceptions of 1994 & '95 when the old Gator Bowl was being renovated.
The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party could be having final calls, too. We'll see.

UGA rivalries w/Florida & Auburn questioned w/SEC sched models; fans weigh in
Most of the other SEC teams have their most heated rivalry within the structure of the conference schedule.
That’s part of the reason why the Bulldogs have played five fewer home games than Alabama -- the team Georgia is trying to unseat atop the conference -- since Smart was hired in 2016.
As the future schedules project, UGA would play four fewer home games than the Tide over the next four years if the Jacksonville contract gets extended.

Didn’t know Twitter polls had that much power

Well no shite you want their Home game to be in JAX. Though that seems a weird to think you should get a home game while they get a neutral game.
For the sake of fairness to really everyone in the league, it should be a Home and Home.

Not going to Jacksonville sounds like a good thing to me. Stadium/city is a dump.

UGA hasn't polled me. Story is bogus.
Keep it in Jax.
Keep it in Jax.

They better not change that. That’s the closest place for me to see a UGA game live.

100 year old traditions just being flushed down the toilet left and right.

Sadly, I could see the rivalry going to home and home once the pod system is in place. Makes no sense to give up a home game in that format.
Most really enjoy Jacksonville. So it will be sad to go, but honestly I don’t see the benefit for either team keeping it there anymore other than an easy paycheck.
at UGA fans wanting it to stay in Jacksonville when it’s a Florida home game. Of course they would.

Unless the fans are the major donor they don’t matter

It’s also ironic these “polls” seem to come out in years where UGA is set to be the home team.
I get it, giving up a home game sucks, but people are not really experiencing away games anymore. This is one of the last unique games out there, but yet let’s just say screw tradition. I’ve noticed a major drop in attendance for away games, not just with Florida, so I guess it’s just the way things are going.

No "UGA" didn't. A sports writer asked on twitter.

This question pops up fairly regularly.
If it would help have more quality out of conference games, it might be worth letting this particular tradition go or at least go to a rotating home/home/JAX or a home/JAX/home solution.

No, it wouldn't. That's the problem these days is everyone keeps saying "well if we flush this hundred year old tradition down the shitter, then we can [insert dumb thing]!!!"
SO WHAT? The 1-7 model means we lose the DSOR soo..we can play misssippi state and arkansas more often? So what?
We get rid of the WLOCP soo...we can play oregon more often to start the season? So waht? Who cares?
We should play UF every year, around halloween, in Jakconsville. We should play AU every year, ideally in November but they've already fricked that one up. Anything that takes away either of the above can frick off.

dumb as shite

Here's the rub... the owners of the JAX stadium aren't going to sign an "every once in a while" deal. They are going to sign an "every year" deal with someone, maybe for an annual ACC rivalry like FSU/Clemson to start their own annual tradition.

How does a home/home/jax or home/jax/home even resemble keeping the scheduling fair? It would make it worse, making it even more reason to get rid of going to jax.
Maybe home/home/jax/jax? But that’s stupid.

That is being generous calling mike griffith a sports writer.
He isnt a uga fan. But he covers uga.
Why do i point that out?
Mike griffith would cancel the GT game, cancel jacksonville, and fire kirby smart for a coach who allows more media access.
Griffith has an agenda. Why?
Who cares. I wish he didnt get clicks with this shite. Id be happy to send mike back to tuscaloosa, knoxville, or east lansing.
Is anyone in need of a "sports writer" who hates everything about the culture before he arrived?
And if you havent guessed, no one who disagrees with griffith is clicking on his shite.

I don't believe this, and the fans who want it moved are window licking retards.
