Doesn't UGA only have classes 2 days the week of the game?

I don't know how it is now but it used to be we got Thurs/Fri off that week and also had Wed-Fri off for Thanksgiving. Then like 8 or 10 years ago they cut it down to only having Friday off for jax and then giving the whole week of thanksgiving to make up for it. Idk if that's still the case or not. But I don't recall ever having Wednesday-Fridya off for jax.

Are you still whining about travel? My point is dump Jax & play it in Gainesville if you're only an hour down the road.

But since you want to bring up travel, NOBODY wants to use that argument FOR the Gators TO GO TO Athens or Atlanta.

My issue is WHY play in a stadium an hour from your own school?

If that's the case, play in Atlanta since it's an hour from Athens. That's basically the same scenario!

beacuse that's where the game is played. Why are you so hellbent on what florida thinks about the stadium location?

it's not remotely close to the same scenario, considering the WLOCP is not played in downtown atlanta.

Who said I'm even entertaining Gator thoughts? My issue is: 1 - IT'S RIDICULOUS to play in a location 1 hour from your school; 2 - NOBODY ever uses the "ways to travel" AGAINST Florida going to Athens/Atlanta; & 3 - rotate between Atlanta & Jax. (Each school will have to fly if they're "away"...AND both locations are an hr. from the school).
*bonus: BOTH locations can still do a 1/2-1/2 seating setup.

Well that sucks. Nobody has class on Friday anyhow.

If you think Atlanta, Athens, or Gainesville will allow and welcome the same level of tailgating as Jax does, you are smoking crack.

Whether you care about that kind of stuff or not, it definitely matters.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why do so many people want change just for the sake of change?

well you keep harping on the fact that jax is an hour away from their campus which isn't fair. To them, presumably?

quote:

but, it's not ridiculous. It's GA/FL. It's the cocktail party. It'd be ridiculous to play literally anywhere other than jacksonville.

quote:

2 - NOBODY ever uses the "ways to travel" AGAINST Florida going to Athens/Atlanta

because travel isn't an issue. Nobody uses it when talking about UF going to atl because it'd a non-issue just like UGA going to jax is a non-issue. Do you suggest people manufacture things to comlain about just for the heck of it?

quote:

3 - rotate between Atlanta & Jax. (

why? What in the frick does atlanta have to do with the WLOCP? Let's just play Auburn in September and tech in October and play the SECCG in memphis. Because I mean WHY NOT!??

both locations are an hr. from the school).

you are just like these other imbeciles that keep hammering home this point of equity as if it means anything. Why do you care SO MUCH that florida have to play us an hour from our campus? Do you think that when everyone tailgating is absolutely miserable and we watch the game indoors in a domed stadium in a downtown while everyone is pissed off that our admins will be smiling saying "haha, we got yall this time you cowards!" because we made them fly an hour?

Why do so many people not see what can be done in one location CAN BE DONE IN THE OTHER?

If this is how you think, you're honestly not even worth really continuing on the conversation with. The whole ambiance, aura, and tradition that makes that weekend what it is isn't simply based on a map and the distance from each school's home campus to the playing field.

Atlanta wouldn't roll out the red carpet for Georgia/Florida (if the game moves, I will never call it the WLOCP again because the WLOCP part of it will vanish) like Jacksonville does.

And once again, Jacksonville allows stuff that week/weekend that Atlanta, Athens, or Gainesville wouldn't even consider.

Can’t you read? I posted that it’s UFs decision where they play when it’s their time to be the home team. I hate to see the game moved out of Jax. I’d prefer to stay in Jax IF they can improve the game day experience. If not I’d vote for Athens for our home game years. The Gator are free to chose where they’d like their arse whooping

Because one location is on the border between the two and the other is closer to Cincinnati than Miami or Fort Myers.

I could see if the game was played further south in Florida, but it is right on the border.

I have no issue with the location. It’s the problems involved with attending this game that have a lot of UGA fans wanting it moved

So it's wrong to harp that Jax. is an hour from Gainesville, but perfectly fine when others say Atlanta is "home" for UGA?

Well the Dawgs do own that decrepit North Avenue Trade School stadium in Atlanta. Even tv commentators call it “Athens West”. So I guess that qualifies as “home” if we really wanted to claim that rusty old place. Not sure we do. It’s really really UGLY and should probably be condemned

FWIW, I hope it stays. I like traditions.

Anyone recall maybe it was early 90’s when they had mounted police and almost riots at the game?

Also, it was not this game but same stadium Gator Bowl game where Woody Hayes punched a Clemson player and that ended his career.
