By the time A&M wins anything, I’m not sure anyone will still be watching college football.
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, did A&M really win anything?

Big Sneezy, the problem most of these people don't realize is the NCAA is gone. SCOTUS ruled while most the SEC sat around waiting for marching orders from Finebaum.
The NIL timing was perfect for the Aggies. Our former students have money, a desire to return it (legally) to our athletes.
Our Big Money Ags aka BMA's quickly set up the legal process to act quickly. We were among the first but there will be others who will quickly fall in line.
Change is difficult but college football has changed. I personally don't like it either, but it is what it is.

When one of the student athletes shots or rapes somebody and their employer is held responsible, then what happens. NiL makes the kids employees.

Agreed. We are finally playing the game but will the results be there
————
Finally playing the game?
A&M’s recruiting ranking has been around the top 5 for the last several years.
That said, surely you don’t believe going forward A&M will continue to bring in SMU equivalent classes considering other programs are establishing collectives and regulations are coming.

I was not talking about the ncaa. If the players do not play on the field, you think those boosters will continue to pay them? People who make a lot of money do not usually waste it very often.
While I see your point about former students, you think they will continue to flush their money if Texas Am does not improve?
UTexas has top recruiting classes for years, 1 NC since 1970

The solution is to change the sport rules that can neutralize the big talent advantage. Spread offense proliferation is a part of that.

The only reason A&M pulled in the class they did is because they were the only ones breaking the rules.
Please cite those rules that have been broken. The world needs to know.
BTW the majority of that signing class is from the Houston area which is approximately and hour to an hour and half away from campus.

Except for the hillbilly silliness in the post title, which was just gratuitous chain tugging, I actually agree with you, completely. We’re so far through the looking glass that Alice ain’t never gonna find her way home, and Congress and the courts IMO ain’t gonna save the NCAA’s bacon, they’re more likely to step up the pace of the change for reasons that have zilch to do with the sport’s best interests.
People who think otherwise are delusional, although IMO the biggest reason for the ire is the fact that for all intents and purposes, the interests of the fans who pay the bills and have supported these programs over generations have been rendered irrelevant in these changes.
Except you yourself said it will not necessarily translate into wins, which at the end of the day is still going to be how programs are assessed.
Plus even though an argument absolutely can be made that this is capitalism and the free market at work, at the end of the day can it truly be said that it’s the best thing for the sport? IMO coaches and players and yes even programs (hello Nebraska, Texas and Tennessee) are transitory. The sport endures.

You bought a good class. Congrats. You have to do something with it before you talk shite like this man. Aggie is a middle tier school.

Here’s the truth. College football has changed. This game is BIG business. Schools are making millions of dollars and networks making BILLIONS.

You know what that’s called? Exploitation.
So it hasn't changed at all.

As a verified hillbilly, I did not downvote you. Not because you are right, your whole premise is wrong, but because your ignorant, incoherent, communist rambling were not worthy of a down vote.
You equated capitalism to exploitation. Which is odd. Then you say the system must be rebuilt, why is the starting point of liberal/progressive/communist ALWAYS the system must be destroyed and rebuilt? The “labor must be fairly paid”, “eat the rich”, “it’s exploitation”, that’s bullshite.
The answer it a free market solution. The return on investment in these athletes is not new, but the money used openly is. And it’s not sustainable. TAMU boosters are not going to spend 20 million a year to buy 8-4 teams. The issue is self correcting. Yes some athletes will with see stupid money, they always have. But the sport will settle back down. Just like we are seeing the transfer portal strand hundreds of kids that don’t have slots is slowing down the transfer portal, we will see the same in the NIL stuff.

Aren't they considered adults at 18 in the eyes of the law? Pretty sure it isn't exploitation.

What they both have in common is money. Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.
TAMU doesn’t have the money to keep renting players. The return on investment has to be there and at TAMU it’s just not there.
And are using yankee in the general sense or the baseball club sense. Because in the general sense yankee implies over educated idiots that choose to be broke by living in pockets of pseudo civilization. The club would align more with Texas than TAMU.
