Coach Saban sees a problem and points it out before he takes advantage of it. That is the solution to that math problem.

UTexas has had top recruiting classes for decades, and yet has only won 1 NC since 1970

The entire state of Texas has only won 1 NC since 1970

And somehow you think throwing money at it will help. No booster is that stupid, or they would not have any money.

Still - mentioning aTm in the same breath as USC, Texas or the Yankees in any context is a joke. I don’t care how much money is being paid for recruiting classes.

You believe this because you think recruits will come to schools because of their win totals. Those days are over.

Money will drive the day. Money.

You totally don’t understand this new landscape. Wins mean nothing. Nothing. In recruiting anymore.

Nothing. Look at Texas. Yes a pedigree program but they were not bowl eligible last season and have the 5th ranked class.

It’s about getting them to the NFL and money. That’s it.

Yes. I hate it. But it’s reality and it’s not changing.

You made arguments for paying college athletes for their names, images, and likenesses being used in business dealings. This issue is about using money to buy recruits. The NCAA has already said that should not happen.

There is a limit to how much any team will be able to pay. It will be limited by the boosters, since if the players are not performing (off or on the field) the boosters will not pay

Absolutely, the market will correct itself. After a few misses, boosters will begin to be more hesitant to just throw money at just anyone.

Kentucky and Missouri had top 15 recruiting classes last year and Alabama/Georgia finished in the top 3. I know you guys are excited about all the change and that you think it’s all about who can pay the most but as much as you think things have changed, a lot of it has remained the same.

Alabama will still have a top class this year. So will the other usual programs.

Friends, no one changes their views on this forum regardless of what side of the argument you stand. A&M has to win something to get respect and even then we won’t be accepted because of NIL. On the other hand, Bama, UGA, and LSU have all of the most recent titles but they fail to admit shady business practices have aided in their championships. It’s a circular pattern that plays out each and every day and it is tiresome. Have at it, I guess.

Texas and USC have titles in the last 20 years and both are more relevant as national brands than aTm.

You really don’t read well. I said it just changed with NIL. As in just now. Keep telling us how wins from 20 years ago is what will matter. Keep that up. That’s good for us.

You’re right. The big money schools will rule things barring a salary cap, which seems unlikely to ever come because the players aren’t on salaries.

How can you say it’s changed without the results? Jimbo also took a top five class at FSU, had a losing season and left town. He’s had plenty of success but one win against Alabama and one class doesn’t equal change. Until he proves that he can sustain, all that you’re doing is yelling “we can buy recruits and that’s all that matters!” without showing me the results.

Oh Jesus. I’m so glad my children didn’t go to your hillbilly arse school. You don’t even know what the point of the post is. Probably baked on meth or something. Go cook up another batch and focus on what you know.

The SCOTUS has ruled that athletes can be compensated for their likeness being used to make money. The NCAA still governs college athletics and can impose rules and fines. States currently create laws governing the conditions for athletes getting paid but it still a violation of NCAA rules to use money to entice kids to come to a particular school.

Also, I know typos happen, but you really need to be extra careful when calling someone a moron.

How many players did Texas send to the draft?

Because paying players doesn’t mean you’ll win. The payment of players is separate from winning. You’re stupid. It helps though. Are you really that thick?

Actually I liked it better the way it was. But it will benefit our school. But it won’t be as fun to watch. So no. I don’t hope that.

But it’s changed. For sure.
