The one person you can't list because of what number it would be is the person that would be there.

Bert Jones an MVP in the NFL
Tommy Hodson was my childhood hero, he was perfection at QB (on a team that was not great without him). I get the joke, but Daniels should be 3 or 4.

Best story about football I've read in a long time.

quote:

n Tittle's day of iron man football, he played on both offense and defense. While on defense during a 20–18 loss to SEC champion Ole Miss in his senior season, Tittle's belt buckle was torn off as he intercepted a pass from Charlie Conerly and broke a tackle. He ran down the sideline with one arm cradling the ball and the other holding up his pants. At the Ole Miss 20-yard line, as he attempted to stiff-arm a defender,(#87 Jack Odom), Tittle's pants fell and he tripped and fell onto his face. The fall kept him from scoring the game-winning touchdown

Oh I forgot about Purple Drank. Say, wasn't he Lane Kiffin's qb for the Raiders ?

Matt Flynn was a better player than Matt mauck or if not better they should both be on the list. jamarcus Russell should be top 5. I went back and watched some of his games. dude would make throws that would just blow your mind. Russell also was pretty nimble for his size. he looked smooth rolling out,.

Out of respect for Jayden Daniels I skipped from fourth to sixth.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons Kiffin ultimately ended up getting fired there. He wanted to draft Calvin Johnson instead of Russell and sign Jeff Garcia. Al Davis preferred Russell.

I get we're having fun but Jayden was nearly unstoppable his Heisman year. Never seen a QB make a jump like that from year to year. While it nearly killed me, that 2023 LSU Ole Miss game was amazing.

I like your list but I would substitute Nuss and Mauck for Flynn and Mett. I also think Rohan is undervalued. His best year was really good.

You guys hate on Nussmeier, but he has the stats. Here is where he ranks in LSU history.

Career passing yards: 3rd
Single season passing yards: 2nd (he had more passing yards in 2024 than Daniels did in 2023)
Career touchdown passes: T-4th
Single season passing touchdowns: 3rd

I don’t hate on him but his stats didn’t really account for win totals. I think the other guys had better overall careers with wins and losses figured in.
