Some of that is just the product of the era. Nuss threw a ton of picks and won nothing of note, and he couldn't elevate a poorly performing offense.

Matt Mauck vs. Matt Flynn
LSU career statistics.
Completion percentage: Mauck 58.6% > Flynn 56.1%
RTG: Mauck 135.7 > Flynn 133.0
Touchdowns: Mauck 37 > Flynn 31
Passing Yards: Mauck 3,831 > Flynn 3,096
Rushing: Mauck 345 yds 5 td = Flynn 340 yds 5 td
They each were a fulltime starter for one season. Mauck’s stats were better then as well.
Mauck: 64%, 2825 yds, 28 TD, 14 INT, 148.2 RTG
Flynn: 56.3%, 2405 yds, 21 TD, 11 INT, 125.8 RTG
What makes Flynn better than Mauck?

You guys hate on Nussmeier, but he has the stats.
You hate on Nuss more than most LSU fans

I don’t hate on him but his stats didn’t really account for win totals. I think the other guys had better overall careers with wins and losses figured in.
You realize one player can only do so much? The offensive stats for 2024 were pretty good. But no quarterback was carrying that 15th (out of 16) ranked defense very far.

That doesn’t change the fact that he is one of LSU’s 10 best quarterbacks of all time

Really? You referred to him as "Temu Jarrett Lee." What changed your opinion this time?

The way he played.
That comment was made mid-season last year, when Nussmeier looked like total garbage. Calling him Temu Jarrett Lee was probably too charitable when describing him last season. He regressed so much from how he looked in 2023 and 24. His quarterback rating each season reflects this.
Nuss QB rating:
2022: 152.0
2023: 139.5
2024: 142.7
2025: 133.8

And yes, Temu Jarrett Lee is one of LSU’s ten best quarterbacks of all time.

Well, that doesn't make very much sense because I don't see regular Jarrett Lee on your list.

How many have actually won a Superbowl?

In football, it is possible for a player to play multiple seasons. You can’t judge a player’s career off of one game, or off of one season when he was a starter for multiple seasons. Garrett Nussmeier’s career numbers put him in LSU’s top 10.
Glad I could clear this up for you!

Dude stays contradicting himself. He can't help it.

Nussmeier is 3rd all time in LSU passing yardage. Nuss has the 2nd most passing yards in a single season in LSU history.
When I called Garrett Nussmeier Temu Jarrett Lee he was 15th in the SEC in QB rating. Not all time, for the 2025 season.
Yes, Garrett Nussmeier is quite the contradiction. I seem to remember you thought very highly of him heading into the 2025 season.

Depends on what you define as "very highly". I thought he'd be marginally better but not Heisman level or anything.

Russell was to the extreme good in college as he was to the extreme bad in the NFL.

You cannot use his NIL without consent, per he who can longer be named.
