Mauck had Michael Clayton, Devery Henderson, Dwayne Bowe, Skyler Green, and Craig Davis at receiver. Those first 3 guys had long NFL careers.
Flynn had ... Demetrius Byrd, Brandon LaFell, Early Doucet, Trindon Holliday, and freshman Terrence Tolliver. Also Les Miles as coach with Gary Crowton as OC. It was a run first offense and Flynn had to pull a rabbit out of his hat for damn near every completion.

So does it really matter who is 8 through 10 on LSU’s list of greatest quarterbacks? Because none of them were great.

No Herb Tyler mention? Got LSU out of the ditch in the mid 90s and went 26-5 as a starter in a 31 game stretch. I guess he did finish his career 1-6 last 7 games though. .

One of the great modern shootouts. Both QBs were in their bag, both running games were strong, LSU couldn't cover Tre Harris and Ole Miss never came close to stopping Brian Thomas.

Mett, Flynn, and Davey were all great quarterbacks. You had Nuss on the list, who I'd put below Jordan Jefferson somewhere around 20th.

If you compare their stats that isn’t true.
Yards/yards per attempt/cmp %/TD to Int/rating
Mett: 5,793/8.77/61.8%/2.33/148.4
Flynn; 3,096/7.05/56.1%/2.38/133.0
Davey: 4,415/9.24/59.8%/1.93/151.2
Nuss: 7,699/7.46/64%/2.17/138.6
It is hard to call a QB great when they have a completion percentage below 65%. No unbiased person would look at those stats and call any of them great.
