Unless I'm mistaken he was recently arrested . Am I wrong on this ?

Like that matters at Auburn/Alabama.

He has shown flashes of being a good QB. For some reason people think players can’t get better. Very strange

QBs don’t get better without coaches who can develop them. Finley picked the wrong school to transfer to for that, probably to stay in the SEC. He really should have gone to a G5 known for passing offense with a good offensive coach where he could have been developed and then showcased.

So, LSU's third team QB is 2nd string at 8&4, our second string QB is 1st team at Auburn, and our starting QB just "walks away" from football.

It's been a strange two years.

Auburn is Auburn. Doesnt matter who their qb is. They always play us tight

Nah, we beat the crap out of them fairly often. In fact, six times in this 21 year century we have beat them badly.

I would say the same about Kelly at ND, but Denbrock and Sloan change that equation

I feel like this is unwarranted. Kelly took Ian fricking Book to a 30-3 record.

Harsin isn’t really known for developing QBs going back to Boise and his staff is a train wreck right now, and we all know how raw Finley is. He has talent, but he needs a lot of work on the fundamentals.

He literally recruited and completely developed Kellen Moore, a CFB legend and Cowboys offensive coordinator.

He then went to Texas and in his 2nd year there he had 2 QBs playing. One completed 67% of his passes, the other 70%. Texas finished with almost 3400 yards and 25 TD passes to 11 ints at 8.5 yards per attempt. That team went 9-4 and it was literally the 2nd best record they have had since then (Herman finished 10-4 one year). They completely fell off a cliff passing after that until Herman came back.

After an 8-5 year one record at Arkansas St, he goes to Boist St as HC and in his 2nd year Brett Rypien became his second massive successful QB. In four years as starter he throws for 13580 yards and 90 TDs to 26 ints.

Basically what I'm getting at, is the guy can coach. Finley won't be great, and probably won't even be good this year, but I think in 2023 if Harsin isn’t fired and Finley isn’t dumb enough to leave early, he can have a really good season. Harsin is a QB coach, has been an OC, and a HC. Finley was extremely raw coming out of high school, but from what I have seen and read, Harsin believes Finley has done what he was supposed to do to win the job.

Has two big mechanical flaws that will always prevent him from being consistently accurate. But can get hot on occasion. Doesn’t scare me

Finley has elite arm talent

Accuracy should be includedwhen talking about "arm talent" not just how far someone can sling it.

I'd laugh my arse off if he got hurt or benched and Calzada beat Bama a second time.

TJ has the arm to hit any part of the field.

Unfortunately, he's supposed to hit his receivers.

Figured Calzada wouldn't win the job, he looked like a group of 5 qb at most times last season

The problem is that Harsin isn’t the QB coach and if he devotes his time to developing Finley, then the rest of the team will suffer greatly.

I watched him his entire High School career he didn't get a bad rap. Also he is not a leader.
