I dont think this would ever happen, but an ideal situation would be if It is Saban as the HC, double Kelvin Sheppards salary and have him as the DC/ head coach in waiting.

He gets to learn from the GOAT Saban for a few years, Saban retires and turns it over to Sheppard.

LOL. I thought about this last week but never posted it to this board. It would be like Lincoln Riley and Bob Stoops at Oklahoma or Bobby Bowden and Jimbo at FSU.

3-4 years groomed under a legend, then become the HC at a top tier school.
Nuss didn't put in the work, plain and simple.

Guys like Mett, Burrow, and Daniels worked with their WRs most of the off-season. Daniels got up early and stayed late studying and training to be the best. NONE of these three were given 2+ million dollars to come back a final year. NONE of them were given an expensive car either. NONE of them got engaged and was distracted by their GF. .

Nuss didn't do what was necessary to improve, plain and simple. He regressed.

People always resort to say people are "hating" Nuss. You know damn well the truth is that people are just done with Nuss and ready to move on from him. The guy lead the worst offense LSU has had since 2014.
I would be 2 million percent in favor of Eric Morris. We would NEVER worry about QB play again. I followed him and his offensive staff over the last month. Him and his offensive staff are responsible for Patrick Mahomes, Cam Ward, Lindsey Scott Jr, Chandler Morris, TJ Finley (at Texas St), and a redshirt freshman this year named Mestemaker, who didn't even start on his high school team.

He also runs the ball. When he was at Tech, he had a 1500 yard rusher, the first time they had a 1000+ yard rusher in over 10 years. That kid had back to back 1100+ rushing seasons.

Something not mentioned here a lot is LSU is a brand and they need their brand as a business to be exciting. So they need a splash hire for the brand. Is it the right decision? I don't think so because you miss out on guys like Saban at Michigan State.

This isn't LSU from the early 2000s they want big or go home. Golesh would only excite the most knowledgeable players in the fan base. 95% of people couldn't tell you who he is.
Whomever LSU hires, there will be national news pieces made on him. Recruits would see these on any national news they look at for sports. I just looked up his personal life, and even THAT will be made a big deal out of. Also, this guy was Heupel's OC/play caller at UCF for a year and Tennessee when they had Hendon Hooker. Remember, Tennessee chose Heupel from UCF after he came off a 6-4 covid season.

Dude was at USF AND UCF. We can get right back into Florida with him. That used to be a nice recruiting ground for LSU during the Les Miles days.

I really like him as a coach, and offensively, he certainly has the chops. However, his defense leaves A LOT to be desired. They've gotten marginally better each year, but in their best year (this year), they are 89th in total defense, and 68th in scoring defense.

Dude needs a top notch defensive coordinator.
You'll start truly hearing things before and right after the last regular season game.

OP what the frick are you talking about
Nuss didn't come back to LSU just for "the love of LSU". He got paid, and paid handsomely. Kelly discussed, as an example of the draft grades possibly considering him as a 3rd round pick, how to "break even".

I don’t think I’ve seen a team shoot themselves in the foot like we did Saturday.

Bamas acting all high and mighty. If I were them I’d be pretty concerned right now. You let a team with no HC and that prob couldn’t move the ball on a HS JV team stay with you practically the entire game at home in prime time. Also barely beat a shitty SC team.
Bama has gotten lucky in almost every SEC game this year. It has been uncanny how much their opponents have self destructed or made bone headed decisions to lose games that they could have won.

I can not believe that the cosmos still are allowing Bama all these good fortunes, when they had the frigging GOAT coach since 2007. How in the hell does this still happen? The blood sacrifices they made should be over by now.

quote:

all this spending is gonna stop. Ain’t nobody making money off these expenditures. Once the new wears off no kid is getting a million dollars except surefire face of the program kids.
disagree BIG TIME. Schools like Indiana, Texas Tech, and Vandy doing what they are doing, it is going to entice any mega rich college football fan to want to get his school up to snuff.
quote:

Where are all these numbers coming from? Over the past 3 days I’ve seen people on here say $4 million, $3.4 million, $3.1 million
months ago it was stated north of 2 million. I think some booster or somebody who is close to a booster mentioned he got paid 3rd round money to come back.

Also, just for reference, Jayden Daniels wasn't even the highest paid player at LSU. Not even top 3. Will Campbell was paid more, Perkins was paid more and Emery Jones was paid more off the top of my head.

quote:

We were spoiled by Burrow and Daniel’s.
People saying "spoiled" by Daniels and Burrow, don't understand. All teams go through a standard change if they find the right coach. LSU, between Burrow 2019 and Nuss last season, we saw a significant uptick in QB play. Did you know that between 2019 and 2024, we hadn't thrown for less than 3100 yards and 23 TDs as a team? Did you know that lowest output of 3100 passing yards came in 2020 where we only played 10 games? In a 13 game span, that 2020 offense would have thrown for 4060 yards 32 TDs to 12 ints. Did you know in a losing season in 2021 we threw for 3300 yards and 32 TDs to 11 ints? In 2022 3770 yards 23 TDs to 7 ints, but our starting QB ran for over 800 yards and 11 TDs. In 2023 4400 yards and 44 TDs to 5 ints. In 2024 4100 yards 29 TDs to 12 ints.

It's completely reasonable to expect us to be pissed at an extrapolated 13 games of 3130 yards (3122 in 10 games in 2020), 20 TDs (lowest before was 23, but a QB made up for it with 11 rush TDs), and 7 ints. We literally haven't seen this level of ineptitude at QB statistically, in the past 6 years,
quote:

Never understood the hate for JLee.
You mean the guy that threw 16 ints and 6 pic 6s in 8 games??? You don't realize he was the single cause for multiple losses right? We blame our defense for being bad, but holy shite a guy is throwing 2 ints a game and every other game he's giving the opponent free points.

Before anybody goes with a debate, Jefferson was horrendous in 2010. Him, 2014 Jennings, and 2016 Harris were as bad as 2008 Lee, just in different ways.

quote:

Hankton has done nothing with these guys. He inherited Nabers and BTJ from Joseph.
Hank coached them for two years. He also coached Lacy and Aaron Anderson who had a combined 1740 yards and 14 TDs as first time starters at LSU. He also coached multiple NFL WRs at UGA. Since Hank and his WRs have been gone, UGA has had problems with WRs.

I may get on him for rotations, but Barion Brown's biggest knock coming from UK was his hands and ability as a route runner. Nic Anderson played 1 year catching deep balls over 70% of the time 2 years ago.

Add to it that Nuss isn't seeing wide open receivers, Nuss was inaccurate a lot on deep passes, the OC misusing the WRs, and the OL not holding blocks to get the WRs more chances (they threw 65 more passes at this same time last year), it makes perfect sense why the WRs didn't perform like they should.

We need to start MVB, and put an emphasis on downfield passing.

I'm not going to start another thread, and I'm saying this is a rumor that I was just told by my sister and nephew who played him this year. The rumor is Pop, mostly his Father, IMO, is thinking about decommiting because the coaches he committed to are gone.

I warn to not blow this up. It was a RUMOR I was just told. He's a 2027 commit anyway, so we'll have time to convince him.
quote:

Well MVB didn’t do any of that last night and was sacked more than Nuss. Just saying
He was also thrown into a game on the road vs a top 5 team, not vs one of the worst power 4 teams in the country. ALSO, despite Raiola getting sacked and lot, Nebraska doesn't have a bad OL and they literally have a top 5 running back in the country.

You're comparing apples to oranges here.

quote:

5/11, 52 yards, 2 sacks, and a fumble to ice the game.

What game were you watching?
This is the essence of stat watching and not actually seeing the game.
quote:

I don’t know which QB it will be, but one of them will rush for 100 yards or more along with the RBs

This is not a Nick Saban coached team. It is still Kalen ‘Homer-Simpson-Looking-Arse’ DeBoer
I'm riding. I'm not predicting a final score, but I've been saying for a while now that Bama's offense is exactly the offense our defense keeps in check. People act like they haven't seen the difference in how bad our defense plays vs a run threat at QB, and a guy who is just mobile. Yes Whit not playing has been a HUGE negative for us in these games too, but we weren't great with running QBs when he was in the game. Go look at how good LSU is vs WRs. TAMU has two of the best WRs in the conference and they had a total of 7 catches for 92 yards and 1 TD.

Pavia did good with their TEs and RBs in the passing game, not their WRs. And a lot of that was done on Pavia playing backyard football.

Ole Miss got some good play by their WRs, but most of that was also on the QB running around finding the open receiver.

LSU has missed tons of sacks that they are right there to get, but I don't think that will be a problem this week. I think LSU holds Bama to less than 24 points.

LSU should be able to run it's way to 24 points. I think they'll have extra motivation to do so.
quote:

Don’t know about y’all, but I for one think manchild is the next Louisiana born superstar at WR for us.

Excited to see some young guys play if nothing else!
Damn, it's like you read my mind.
Run game will improve big time IMO.

More physicality by the defense

MVB will actually be utilized, and he offers another key to opening up the offense

No, but I'd imagine there was a lot of stupidity and "know-it-all" posters surrounding their tenures as well.

That's my whole point. There is a reason why people are called fans (short for fanatic). You rally behind your guy because he is your guy, until it is 100% obvious. Same with players.
