The inclusion of his snarky comment at halftime is exactly the type of thing Spurrier would have said.

Spurrier did not go against the SEC and other schools. He talked trash about the games and teams and then backed it up(usually).
He was funny, he was witty and he was very much part of the club.
I don't want to speak for Leach, but I think he'd be pretty diehard against LSU. He appreciated people being cleaver and getting around rules that way. He didn't at all appreciate when people used bureaucracy and other methods to do things (such as using the courts). Something he was a victim of himself if you know his history.
