I know they lost more, but the Uconn team the year before was a little better IMO

Yèp the 2nd championship year of those 2 its like they just took the game off in the losses but any time they cranked it up they were just pounding good teams.

1979 NCAA Championship game between Magic Johnson’s Michigan State Spartans and Larry Bird’s Indiana State Sycamores are two of them.

The rest.

Is that the 94 championship trophy that they borrowed from Arkansas?

This is a man who knows basketball.

It's all subjective, but there aren't nearly enough votes in this thread for the Horford/Noah Florida teams in my opinion. When they were focused, they made college basketball into an art form.

If Nasr Mohammed could have hit a free throw we’d have had a three peat. He was 0/6

It's just really hard to cut it to 3 when there have been so many great teams in my years of watching the sport. It's hard to leave off 2018 Villanova, 2005 UNC, etc... too, but they can't all make the cut.

Anyone who goes on a warpath through the tournament like 2024 UConn and 2009 UNC did gets special consideration in my book. I've always had an appreciation for teams who can kick things up a level when the stakes are higher in any sport.

More like if Derek Anderson would’ve played. But I’ll digress.

I don't know about teams but 1988 Oklahoma vs Kansas was the greatest Championship game I ever watched. Tied 50-50 at halftime.

Honestly it’s probably Villanovas last title team, Mich st last title team(beat everyone in the tourny by double digits) and cals Memphis squad with rose and company that choked against Kansas.

It was at the quarter final game that Alabama played them in Baton Rouge. IU won 74-69, but it was a 3point game with less than 2 minutes left.
After the game, Coach Knight came into the Tide locker room and told the team that they were the best team that they'd played the entire year...a memorable compliment.

If we're talking "best against the current field" rather than "best all time" ?

Kentucky 2014 was a monster. For the era ... better as far as differential from the rest of the field than the '96 Cats. And then John Calipari started coaching about halfway through the SEC season.

That season was the season I decided it would be fine if John Calipari just moved on.

As far as a flexible, could take all comers type of team ? 1986 Louisville.

I'll take the undefeated team with SIX NBA draft choices.
