Its not an argument ... I just never watched them. They won in '76. I was born in '72. Can't comment on the old UCLA teams for the same reason. So I can't tell you.

But I did see Bob Knight and Denny Crum both work in the 80s. The absolute best two coaches I've ever seen in their prime. Better than K. Better than, well, anybody today.

'73 UCLA
I never saw a performance like what I saw from Walton in the final.

To be fair, that Kentucky team has the longest single season win streak in NCAA Men’s BB and also 6 players drafted.

76 Hoosiers only played 32 games. 14 Kentucky won 38 before they lost in the Final Four.

I mean the Florida team won back to back titles with the same starters....how is that not considered one of the best teams? They proved it on the court.

Evidently UNC was so good they were #1 with only 4 players.

I got you. The fact that there was 6 guys drafted off that team is just ridiculous.

State beating UK in SEC championship,
State’s women ending UCONN’s streak,
UNC beating Duke in the rat’s final home game was freaking awesome!

UNC with Jordan clearly had the best Basketball player ever..and the supporting cast was very good. No doubt they could have a great game with 96 Kentucky.

Easily 2006-2007 UF..you have to very, very crazy to not have them in...

won back to back titles with the starting line-up

Had 3 top ten draft picks

Had an elite coach

Finished 35-5

very easily in the Top 3

Everybody remembers late Bob Knight. When he was falling apart.

I remember 80s Bob Knight. When he could beat you, then swap teams, and beat you again.

Nothing was worse than being a Kentucky fan and watching Joe B get out-coached by both Bob Knight and Denny Crum. Every damn year.

Frosh Jordan played with a junior James Worthy. And a sophomore Sam Perkins and Matt Doherty. Let that sink in for a minute.

A better argument than "best teams ever" ? Coaches that did less with more. Dean Smith - for all the praise he got - did very little with quite a bit.

I’m not comfortable saying on teams before 02 or so. Kentucky had a really great run from like 95-97 and the Duke teams with Jay Williams were really damn good. He was an unbelievable college guard.

They just got lucky that a few UNLV players owed Jimmy "the fixer" Perry a loss. That undefeated Running Rebels team was better than the championship team from the year before. What a shame they were corrupt.

You can pick a lot of UCLA teams during their 8 year run. The 72 team was 30-0 with an average margin of victory of over 30 ppg. Their back-up center was the ABA rookie of the year and a long time NBA star after the 2 leagues merged.
