No... We are just using the system the same way Ole Miss did. The same way Texas and Indiana did. For some reason because it's Kiffin it's a big deal. All those players are ineligible according to the NCAA but free to play because of court rulings. I don't understand how we are any different. I'm 100% against this but if Texas and Indiana can do it for 5th year guys and Ole Miss can do it for 6th year guys why would we not try?

Your team is paying a six year senior $6 million for a season. He is making more than 60%+ of the NFL as a college player.

Let’s just forget the amateur/pro status. That is gone. All that is happening now is a natural progression of how the money flows.

I'm not morally against it but for the sake of argument, medical redshirts have precedence and defined rules within NCAA eligibility guidelines. Players going pro and coming back does not. The NCAA lost lawsuits because they failed to follow their own guidelines.

Remarkable it hasn't happened before.

Which according to the NCAA Chambliss didn't meet those guidelines. They ruled him ineligible. He got a TRO allowing him to play. These 5th year guys are winning in court because the NCAA screwed them.

But if you get a medical redshirt you get 6 to play 5. It has been that way for decades.
WTF. You never got to "play 5" before this new 5 for 5 rule.

The old rule was 4 years of eligibility but time could be extended by redshirt year or medical redshirt year with an approved waiver from the NCAA. The problem is that you had some players getting 4 years and other players getting 9 years and the players have started taking their cases to state court.

The NCAA had the chance to defend this in court and failed to do so. They didn't even stick around to hear the verdict. Tom Mars provided the documentation which met all of the guidelines for the medical redshirt. The NCAA denied him and did not provide a reason for the denial to Ole Miss, and they didn't provide a reason to the judge.

You have no idea how this works. You got 5 years to play 4 once your clock started. (enrolled into an academic institution).

No it isn’t. The schools will take care of what the NCAA and liberal garbage on the judicial bench cannot.

No, there were other programs before us.

And it was one player. Not multiple ones in basketball and multiple ones in football.

And we didn't spend a quarter-billion hiring coaches and players away from a team going into the playoffs right before that either, or rehiring a coach who had multiple infractions.

You can see how the current optics aren't great.

Both of these are incorrect. His first visit to a doctor about it was in August and he missed a lot of practice over it.

In the hearing, Trinidad admitted that he missed no practice or games over the issue.

I don't know what you're talking about specifically, but if it's Bediako, I didn't like that whole deal either.

I think they should ban these guys and all EuroPros.

Hell, I'm about to start investing in D2 sports in lieu of this crap.

It's not really a moral issue one way or another.

The NCAA screwed this up, yet again, with their timing. This wouldn't even be an issue if they'd have handled it better.
