As I said mental gymnastics. Doesn’t matter if you’re ill. You do t get 6 years to play college football. 5 for 5 rule.

Wrong. It was 5 to play 4. But if you get a medical redshirt you get 6 to play 5. It has been that way for decades.

Exactly you are making my point. SEC schools keep medical records. D2 doesn't. So NCAA didn't have documentation they needed to grant it. Once in court and the documentation was presented it was a slam dunk to be granted. You are making my point for me.

The reason the courts ruled in favor of Chambliss is that, even if you don't "believe him", his attorney provided more than adequate documentation and satisfied every requirement necessary for a medical redshirt and the NCAA ruled against him anyways.

Like with many things, the NCAA messed up with the Trinidad situation.
They had told Ole Miss multiple times during the fall that they were going to grant his medical redshirt waiver, only to later decide to decline it and not give a reason as to why.

But he didn't get a medical redshirt. His illness didn't meet the guidelines. He was ruled ineligible. A Miss Judge gave him a TRO forcing the NCAA to allow him to play.

They didn't try really hard in the trial because they didn't really care if they won. They just didn't want a precedent set for allowing a 6th year for no reason.

Tom Mars is saying these recent TROs will hold too but that's not the point.
The point is according to the NCAA Trinidad is ineligible. The court ruling is the only reason he can play. According to the NCAA Wright is ineligible. The court ruling is the only reason he can play. They are the same and no type of mental gymnastics to say one should be eligible and one shouldn't be makes any sense. Either they are all eligible or they aren't. You can't pick and choose what TROs are "fair".
Edited to say that I have no problem with them all being ruled ineligible.

We've all been giving $100 handshakes to the high school kid at the grocery store and stealing the occasional case of beer off the loading dock out back.
You're getting private equity involved to buy the store, replace the employees with Russian mobsters, and burn the building to the ground so that no one can ever enjoy shopping there again.

what are their other options? They aren’t giving up roster spots or likely even practice squad spots.
