Two, coaches poaching players is going to happen a lot more with the portal and NIL. This isn’t unique to MSU.

State fans are known for whining about other universities stealing their players or how they are the only ones who do it the right way.
That being said. Coaches are definitely trying to steal your players and recruits. Shitty business but it’s business.

I categorize Steve Robertson with Bill Connelly as these sort of reddit-era nerds who don't like football yet choose to make their living off the sport. Robertson wrote that mess of a book "Flim Flam" where he mostly just talks about how unfair and sleezy college football is and how it led to Ole Miss' fiasco with freeze.
As a quick spoiler, none of the ~bombastic~ cultural attributes he described have changed and, in fact, I'm sure he championed the NIL and Transfer Portal movements that essentially codified the things he was complaining about. He's just a guy who hates Ole Miss.
Connelly is the "analytics" wiz who puts out the SP+ rankings that are essentially an embodiment of reddit culture that is more interested in pining over stats than actually watching games and enjoying college football culture. On the one hand, those rankings find silly ways to rank some mediocre pac-12 team that people are fawning over (this year's Utah, for example) over SEC and BIG10 teams that any casual fan knows would kick the shite out of them. On the other hand, SP+ finds ways to put blue-chip schools on top no matter the on-field results. For example, he notably had Ohio State as the #1 team to conclude the 2019 season over LSU. He often defends the rankings saying that "they're not like other rankings, it's a sophisticated system for predicting future results." Which, as you might imagine, means nothing, and it's just a ranking system that prioritizes proving how smart it is by producing results that arrogantly subverts rational thought.
Clearly I dislike Connelly more than Robertson, but until I see them in the same room as each other, I'm not convinced that they're not the same weird guy who doesn't like the sport he writes about to get clicks.

This is very disingenuous, state just tampered with a DB from Miami and had him commit the day after he entered the portal, you can’t do that and then play the victim when other teams are trying to tamper with you.
