Moorhead on paper was a good hire and he was still a good coach but he just lacked severely in discipline and conditioning.

Moorhead took a team that could have won the west and lost an Outback bowl.

Moorhead is in the top 7 in this discussion. Our program took a HUGE step back when he was hired.

Anyway. they were discussing how DiNardo had tried to clean up the program because some of the players were constantly getting in trouble and how the powers thar be basically let him know that football came first.
So nothing has changed in Baton Rouge I see

Some interesting names on these lists

I concur. I was a big Croom fan, although admittedly it was easy for me to be one since he wasn't at the program I support.

Ray Goff

He was hired before expansion, but the 1992 Georgia team might be the ultimate poster child of squandered talent.

Erk instead of Ray will long be one of the great what ifs in a sea of them for Georgia sports

Mike Shula

Come on, man. You're smarter than this (I think.). There were no better options than Shula at the time he was hired, and you know it.

Pruitt, Price, Mason...all worse than Shula. By far.

Zook was a strange hire for a school that was paying Spurrier at or near the highest salary in the country. How do you go from a consensus top 3 coach to a career coordinator who wasn't even that highly thought of? But he wasn't an awful coach - landed at 8-4ish, beat Saban, and he recruited 90% of the 06 title team, including that hellacious defensive line.

Muschamp was a godawful, cheap, low effort hire. No vision at all to see that offense was the future, no read on his personality at all, no in-depth perspective on his complete ignorance to roster building. Demonstrated they had no idea how low the team had sunk under Urban. He completely buried the Florida program for almost 10 years.

McElwain bit off way more than he could chew, and had to deal with a contentious administration in transition. He had a massive ego and thought he could run the SEC. Won a chip or two at Alabama but didn't learn a goddamn thing from Saban, but he at least made us competitive before the 2017 shitshow.

Muschamp belongs in a bottom 5 tier with Pruitt, Dooley, John L Smith, Brad Scott, etc.

He’d probably been fine if he coached a few years but Mike Price gotta be up there right? He didn’t even get to coach a game.

Mike Dubose. I remember being in circuit city when it was announced and hearing about 10 people at once go "oh no". Gene Stallings final FU to Bob bockrath was telling him dubose was the right man.
